Yes! I did this a full year last year and it really helped me curate my collection. I mostly do it with expensive things. It's my n1 reason to keep things that don't work. I can dive back in and go like "yup, still bad" and I would be sure in my decision to declutter.

Those are the reasons I don't normally declutter is I know I'll regret it and the other thing that drives me freaking crazy is when influencer's get rid of limited edition items just because not everyone can get them and I can understand to a certain extent but what about all the people who bought it on the influencer recommendation?? We still want to see more than one video using it 💖

Mine was a Bobbi Brown neutral eyeshadow palette a few years ago that was pretty, sophisticated and subtle but not pigmented. Now that is EXACTLY my style of makeup so I wish I’d held on to it. Right product at the wrong time.

Girl..I decluttered 2 weeks ago and it killed me. I regret everything but the process was easier knowing the women who received them would appreciate it. They are involved in a program for homeless women in the process of finding jobs. I'm going there to show them how to apply it all so that makes me feel good. Much love 💋💚

I would love to see Urban Decay do updated Naked palettes. With really good shimmers, maybe a couple shifty shades, and nice dialed in mattes. In a different format though! My sis gifted me her Naked 2 palette last year, I still use it and the shades are perfect for everyday. I honestly think because she barely used it it was still ok and preserved well. I wouldn’t be surprised if Urban Decay released a vault with those palettes again because people still talk about them all the time.

What if this one specific thing happens where I need this exact product and then I don’t have it? So I end up with very expired makeup before I toss it.

Thank you for making this video. It drives me crazy when I watch declutter videos and people say they HAVE TO get rid of it because they don't use it. No you don't! You can just use it! And I know I shouldn't care what other people do with their makeup but they're influencers and they make people who watch their videos feel like they need to get rid of stuff they spent their money on just because they've been playing with new stuff and neglecting the older stuff. Yes girl. I got very obsessed with makeup the last 2-3 years and have amassed a big collection for one person. I’ve given some to friends and family and that made me feel good but I still have so much for one person. So! I started a project list of my older items and almost all used to use them all the way and also started an empty product list and that has helped immensely!

I can definitely relate to the feelings you shared with us! I shared a lot of my eyeshadow palettes and makeup that I didn't use or "want" anymore and sometimes while watching other people's videos and they show one of the products, I am like darn, I had that and got rid of it! One veryyyy specific item I regretted decluttering was a Soap & Glory blush. It was super glowy, but my skin was really textured. I got insecure about it and got rid of it even though I loved it. Then they STOPPED MAKING MAKEUP. I bought it online as a “last item available” after the fact. I just really missed having it. Even 4 years post declutter.

my tartlette in bloom was my favorite eyeshadow palette in high school and college. at some point I gave it up bc I considered it was too old but still to this day know I would absolutely buy again. Its still available sure but I just do not gravitate towards the brand as much. Now the urban decay naked 2 was also my baby. and I love cool tones now. My first Naked palette was the Naked 2 and it’s my favorite of them all. I still have a second round of Naked and Naked 2 palettes in my collection primarily for nostalgia now, although I will say their formula continues to hold its own. I really regret decluttering my Naked Smoky palette but it was pretty beat up by the end. I loved that palette so much. I also miss my NARS Jolie Poupee duo-those bluey purple shades were so gorgeous and I’ve never quite been able to find a true replacement for them. I tossed that duo because I’d used it quite a bit and the packaging was starting to break down after so many years :/

I love this! I have such a hard time letting go of my makeup. I have had every single Naked palette. I finally last year used every single one and then tossed a couple that were old, 2 and 3. Gave away 4 of them I knew I wouldn't use again (Cherry, Smokey, Reloaded, and Wild West) that were still new enough to pass along to a loving home, and kept my faves. I had to keep the OG though. It still worked even at 8 years old, and I won't use again, just kept for sentimental reasons. I think if I ever got rid of that I'd regret it for the exact reason you stated, it was my first "higher" priced palette and I have all the feels attached to that purchase (also right after my divorce, moving to a bigger city, access to and discovering Ulta!, lol).

I love fort de france, formula and sheen is wonderful. I actually have the mini, they usually release it in sets around holidays etc so keep an eye out! I can't use up a full size one so it's perfect for me. Regarding tastes changing and keeping older products.... I also think back on products I've decluttered that would suit my preferences now but it's not something we can foretell and it's not possible to keep everything 'just in case'

I regret decluttering my Gwen Stefani X Urban Decay palette! It was my first palette ever, I saved up my hard-earned early college cash to get it, and I really developed my makeup skills using it, so all that nostalgia makes me really miss it. I remember when the Nars Fort de France highlighter came out, people would swatch it and pass it by, not realizing that swatching is nothing like a real application on the face. I’ve convinced people I know to buy it and told them they could return it if they didn’t like it. They all ended up loving it. It is different than most highlighters. I feel like we are heading to the medium coverage - satin matte finish foundation (that locks down and lasts a day without melting off) but having glowy products that also don't melt off your face. So "2016.2" ... just the lighter version where we aren't caking on a bunch of makeup with sharpie eyebrows lol

I have moved across the county twice & each time got rid of many possessions and each time, let a few things go that I regret very strongly. They were in shades I've still never seen again and wish I had kept just to try to recreate them, or for nostalgia purposes. Part of it is, I think, that when we're are in the zone of mass removal, like a big makeup declutter or a move, we find it more easier to let more go all at once, it helps us not to stall on individual items. But that can lead to overdoing. I'm fine with products that might get used 3-6 times per year in my medium-large collection. For decades I had lipsticks I only used during the holidays or for gigs b/c that's the only time I needed those shades, but when I needed them, there they were. I'm not sorry they didn't get used up, they were treasured anyway. & Sometimes I re-purchase vintage items from my past just to have them back, thank goodness for eBay.

Here in Spain once you tried the makeup you can’t return it, so there’s a chance to have things that you don’t want in your collection. Other than that I keep everything until it gets moldy 😅😅😅

Like I STILL have my naked palettes 1-3, I have the glow kits, & I fairly recently got a “fresh” Nicole Guerrero glow kit & was using it 😅 I have that NARS highlighter & the Amrezy (I wasn’t getting it) & just the other day I was looking thru my stash & “found” mg original Lorac pro palette 😩 i obviously don’t understand the concept of declutter 😅 but yes I love looking at those makeup palettes & touching them & swatching them etc … ah for the love & nostalgia of makeup !!! Oh & the Natasha Denona palette too ❤

Laura Gellar is in Ipsy all the time. If I am unsure about something I am decluttering. I put it on a chopping block style declutter. I start using them and make a real decision. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️

I have a box of makeup that I've been wanting to declutter, my naked palettes are in it. I think I'll keep them since I now know the original naked isn't available anymore.

NEW SUB!! Dustin Dailey recommended you on Nick’s latest video, and I am so glad he did!! Ok, per decluttering: Years ago I decluttered the Naked 3 Palette, and that is my only decluttering regret. I found the Naked Cherry Palette to be a good replacement, though, as I love pinks and peaches for my gray-blue eyes. A few weeks ago, I decluttered a ton of eyeshadow and face palettes, including my Swamp Queen, which was difficult. However, I make “Weekly Makeup Basket” videos, and now I only have about 10 palettes to choose from for the basket, which makes the basket less exciting for me. I have a bag of 'decluttered items' that I hang onto for 3 months before actually getting rid of them. The only item I've recalled from my declutter pile is my Marc Jacobs Air-Blush (Kinks and Kisses). It's such a shame the whole line is discontinued cos this formula slaps.

Revlon has an anastasia amrezy highlighter dupe. JEN PHELPS recommends it. I love it! It's the Skin lights Prismatic Highlighter in the shade 201 Daybreak Glimmer. It's also a baked formula. You'll love it!
