As a former teacher, I always liked when kids had their names on all items and had glue sticks and things out of their packages. It made it faster to put things away in the classroom. As a mom I always bought extra school supplies, and gave them as Christmas presents because they are on sale now. They start to run out of things at school around the first of the year.

As a retired teacher and the mom of three grown sons, have breakfast , supplies, and clothing ready EVERY night before bed. Take phones up at bedtime and put them in a charging station in your room. Check and double check every morning to make sure they have everything they need. Also, have them make their beds before leaving. They will already have successfully completed a task they can take pride in before they are at school.
@MomNTraining2 жыл бұрын
I do most of this but I’ve never worried about their beds being made. I am 100% going to start making that a part of our morning now. I love that. It will also be a more relaxing room for them when they get home!

i love it when you show these life situations and how you deal with them. Can i just say your new year goal setting organizer has been an absolute life saver. I followed that and put the goals down in my bullet journal while adding some measures to be taken each month, and it has given me so much motivation and clarity in my life. And i have read many goal setting books but this finally worked for me. I can use the method life long.Thank you so much. 🙏🏼

I appreciate your respect for teachers. I taught Latin for a decade before I homeschooled my kids and stayed home for them. Teaching is a difficult job, if you’re doing it right. I wish all parents cared about what teachers have to do. We did the haul recently and bought the literature list for each kid. We live in a small town, so we had to travel an hour to a worthwhile store for supplies.😄 I am renovating our kitchen and preparing for my youngest daughter’s birthday party. When the dust clears, I am going to hunt down fridge organizing bins. I like your idea putting basics for meals together in a bin.

For me the thing that makes me feel the most prepared and grounded is to fill out my calendar for the first couple of months as well as organize and re-stock their homework station. One tradition I have is buying special “fall” (Halloween) Jammie’s that I give my kids the last weekend in august when we decorate our home for fall. My boys are in pre-school and 2nd grade. They love it.

A bit of advice…I used to stock up on school supplies when the great sales were on before school started, that way when we ran out mid year, we could just go to the supply cabinet and grab what we needed instead of going out and paying full price mid year.

Hi, I'm from the UK and I'm really interested in your kids list for school. Do your children take them in for their own personal use only or does everything get collected together and all children in the class share?. We don't do anything like that here really. We only get a small list for secondary school for a few items they have to each have in their bags, so I'm genuinely interested.
@nataliesmith24582 жыл бұрын
I’m also from the UK 🇬🇧 and am blown away by all the stuff they have to get !
@thefarfromperfectmum2 жыл бұрын
@@nataliesmith2458 me too, that's why I'm wondering wether it's for each personal child or wether it's to share as a group. I worry for the low income families, must be such a pressure on them as this amount of stuff cannot be cheap!
@thefarfromperfectmum2 жыл бұрын
@Vicky Baumhardt thank you for letting us know. I think it's lovely how everyone chips in and that it helps out those that cannot afford. I know in some places in the UK where the schools have allocated less funding to classroom supplies, the teachers often buy things out of their own pocket. They never ask parents to buy supplies except for what their own children need, sometimes they suggest supplies for end of year gifts instead of personal gifts for the teachers. Secondary is different, very strict, they have a small amount of things they must carry around but must have everything or they get a detention!

You have a great system for school. It is just not right though that they have to get parents to buy so much especially toilet paper etc. We pay taxes and it is not small change and all the Homeschooling parents pay the taxes as well even though they are not benefiting. It seems like something is not adding up to me. You have a great attitude and that is very great for your kids and the teachers. I wonder what happened to cause this change. When I was in school and that was over 40 - yrs ago the schools had supplies and parents only had to clothe the kids and provide a notebook and backpack. Things have really changed a lot. Seems the more money school systems have the more they act like they need. Crazy! You have a lovely home and I was inspired by your refrigerator organization and meal planning. Just wonderful!

You mentioned earlier in the video that one of your kids does not care for one of the spices (cumin, maybe?), so you were making one with bbq sauce instead. Except for that and showing the pita bread, what the kids ate was not mentioned. I have noticed in several of your other videos that they had something different (probably due to the spice level). I am just curious about what they did have for dinner because I am sure many parents do the same thing and an extra kid friendly meal idea would be welcomed.

As a teacher in England I can’t believe you need to provide so much stuff for school! The children in England don’t have to bring anything when they are very little and when they get a little bit older they start to bring a pencil case but that’s it! Crazy that your schools don’t provide it all.
