April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month & National Child Abuse prevention Month. Once again, Lauren’s Kids hosted a 42 Hour consecutive awareness walk at the Florida Capitol to shine light in dark places and honor the 42 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse living in the U.S. today.
Every 98 seconds, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. Over the 42 hours we walked, more than 1,500 people were victimized.
Every 15 minutes, walkers lit a candle on a wall of the 42 Hours display to symbolize the 10 victims and survivors assaulted during that time.
We shined a light for each one of those survivors to help amplify the messages of prevention, hope, and healing.
