ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Laurent Coulondre boasts a full resume. With a string of degrees, the keyboardist has established himself over the years as a major figure in the music world. He has won numerous awards, including two Victoires du Jazz awards and a number of mentions in the specialist press. Open to experimentation, this virtuoso of the organ, Fender Rhodes and piano is diversifying his musical projects, including a moving tribute to Michel Petrucciani recorded alongside the legendary André Ceccarelli. It's a fitting collaboration, especially considering Laurent Coulondre played the drums in his early youth. The mastermind behind the Gravity Zero project, an album featuring various drummers including the brilliant Cyril Atef, Laurent Coulondre kicks off his set at Zurich's Moods Club with a groovy track. Backed by Yoann Serra on drums and cymbals, Coulondre delivers the rest of the performance with brilliance, grounded in an unstoppable rhythm. The incredible track “Egyptian Queen” is a case in point, innovatively structured and full of spacey, ethereal effects. While punchy sequences quickly grab listeners’ attention, the more climactic tracks are equally sophisticated; especially “Sous les Pommiers,” a moment of pure grace and a nod to Normandy's famous jazz festival.
