On 11 April 2011, 5 months after he had been defeated in a UN-supervised election, Laurent Gbagbo, the former leader of Cote d’Ivoire, was forced out of his presidential bunker by an unholy alliance of pro-Ouattara soldiers supported by the French army and the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI).

When Alassane Ouattara decided to go for a third term after struggling against Gbagbo and fighting him for the same reason. Eish! Leaders, learn from the likes of Alpha Conde and follow those like Kaunda, Rupiah Banda, and Edgar Lungu.

alassane ouattara was never elected by the Ivorian People, he was installed by the french army in 2010 to maintain french neo-colonial system in place. France owns the CFA Franc currency of 14 African states including Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. france is the only one to print this colonial currency without the control of the African countries who use it. This enables france to get Africa's natural resources for free and finance rebels to overthrow non submissive African presidents without spending one euro.

My parents were part of the economical immigrants to Ivory Coast in the late 1990s, looking for a better life. My siblings got born in Ivory Coast and lived in the Capital. In 2005 we fled to Ghana because of the war and the arising Xenophobia. I can still remember an helicopter, full of soldiers landing near my friends and I as we were playing. The sounds of gun shots through the night became our Lullaby, as we lived near the center of the war. Moreover tanks, trucks filled with soldiers would share our roads, when I was going to school with my little sister. Living through a war is a terrible experience that can't be understood by reading. I would however like to mention the niceness of ivorians, of their foods and their culture. The war was bad but it could have been worse. The country was led by well-educated individuals and accepting of everyone. The fact that Gbagbo was not killed just shows how nice they are. I wish the best to ivorians.

I was an eyewitness of the Ivorian crisis from 2002 to 2011. After the 2010 election in Cote d'Ivoire, the results given by the constitutional court gave the victory to Laurent Gbagbo. It is true that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) had gave the election results in favor of Alassane Dramane Ouattara. How can it be that in some localities favorable to Alassane Dramane Ouattara there are more voters than people registered on the electoral list? But before that the IEC had cancelled the votes made in France saying that there was a fight between the supporters of Gbagbo and Ouattara in the Polling stations. However, in France Gbagbo had largely beaten Ouattara after the counting of votes: but the votes was cancelled. That is why after the counting of the votes when the constitutional court declared Gbagbo the winner, and the IEC, Ouattara and the international opinion refused the victory of Gbagbo, who asked for the recount of the votes. Unfortunately, Ouattara asked for the military option that caused the death of many people in Cote d'Ivoire. I would like to ask you today this question: Is the military solution better than the recount of the votes?

Dramane Ouattara was and still is the puppet of the west against his own people like we often see in Africa Dramane Ouattara never won any election in Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮 and we all know that! As long as westerners will be involved in elections in Africa they will never be true representation of the people’s choice. Africans, I say unite and build a 21st century military to protect and defend yourselves or continue to be walked over by your ennemis! Let them try that with Russia 🇷🇺 China 🇨🇳 or North Korea 🇰🇵🤔

Gbagbo is definitely one of the top 5 greatest personality of Ivory Coast. Just like Alassane Ouattara he is one person that have as much supporters as haters. Gbagbo was definitely a man of peace. From 2002 - 2011 he always gave a chance to peace rather than having the country falling in the War. I believe we could have advoided the 2011 post election crisis If we had just followed the constitution.

I love your documentaries, but some remarks: - the UN Mission in Ivory Coast was also led by France. French soldiers used UN Helicopters to attack the presidential palace. If you don't mention this, it seems like there was more than just colonial legitimacy. - You cannot say Gbagbo was defeated. The legal institutions of the country declared Gbagbo the winner, France counted votes where rebels controlled elections leading to 98%-Ouattara fake results in three provinces. Even France recognised this fact but counted them anyway. - Ouattara is married to a French woman, their wedding took place in a rich suburb of Paris where Nicolas Sarkozy was mayor then and held the ceremony. The same Sarkozy who was president and send the French army to overthrow Gbagbo and install Ouattara, his friend. - You mentioned that Ouattara was prime minister under long-time French-puppet dictator Felix Houphouet-Boigny, but didn't point out that it was him who was responsible to throw the democratic opposition around Gbagbo in jail. His continuous exclusion from the election was mainly because he stood for post-colonial French rule. - Gbagbo didn't just say the country was not ready for elections, he wanted the elections to be held in the whole country under institutional supervision. Not while rebels control areas and intimidate voters. - Thousands of French troops protected the rebels and shot anybody crossing to the north. Both civilians and official military. - Ouattara has not just been president "eversince", he illegally took a third term, after his choses successor died. Nevertheless France is not interfering again, since their puppet is in place. - During the war it was already clear: the main massacre was commited by Ouattara forces. The Red Cross whitnessed the sloughtering of over 1.000 civilians in Duékué by the rebels. Having watched the whole video I must say it's the first time I'm totally disappointed, compared to the many well-researched good ones of this channel. As you can see I'm obviously critical of France and Ouattara, but I'm not from Ivory Coast, just a pan-African sad about the situation of our continent. Gbagbo was in jail for almost 10 years - innocent of what he was accused. In my eyes it's unjust and sad, but at the same time he deserved it for being to naive and peaceful. Gbagbo took diplomacy too far and the country is still paying a terrible price. Hundreds of thousands had to flee to the neighbouring countries and Ivorian women were forced into prostitution, leading to frequent xenophobic fights with local prostitutes fearing the huge influx of competition. I personally whitnessed this in Togo, where an affected Ivorian woman told me her story (I'm against prostitution and there was nothing more than talking). She was a medicine student until seeking refuge. This is how bad French-speaking Africa is.

@Simone Robach, I haven't read a such a faithful account of the Ivoirian crisis from a non-Ivorian person. Thanks a million for sharing that and for standing for pan-Africanism. A true pan-Africanism is the solution to the many trouble of the continent. Those who divide it know the importance of true union and what a powerful weapon it is to apply the "divide to conquer" principle; that's why they unite while they cause troubles, deaths, and civil wars in other countries to keep on dominating other them.

@@kemitafrq6890 Thank you, I appreciate you took the time. The base of progress is gathering, connecting and remembering knowledge to be ready for our time. Part of my family is from Togo. As artificial as our borders are, as common are our problems. We suffer from the same oppression. The slight differences are related to which external power is oppressing us. France applies the same strategy of installing puppet dictatorships from Senegal all the way to Gabon. And the same method of undermining sovereign governments - by arming rebels/terrorists like in Niger, Mali, Ivory Coast, Libya... Every anti-imperialist pan-African is more Ivorian than any supporter of a French puppet like Ouattara. Africa is one. Greetings to you

The narrative lacks very important facts that when put in context will shed a different light on the history of one of the greatest politician, thinker and leader of Africa. Gbagbo didn’t loose the 2010 presidential elections. The north of the country under rebels control stuffed the billots for Ouattara on a huge scale. Even with that, Gbagbo won and was asking for a recount of the whole nation votes. But France (the devil) under Sarkozi (president, Ouattara’s friend and co investors in multiple businesses) ordered the French army to assault the presidential palace and arrested the legitimate president. It was in fact a coup under hidden in a contested election. Today, the facts are clearer and this piece should be updated or at the very least a new video should be made to amend this one.

Not true this part is one of the most complexed part of the story. 1) Basically the results of the election were given outside of the deadline (3 days) and at the headquarters of Alassane Ouattara (the other candidate). Therefore the claim of Gbagbo’s side was that those results were not valid 2) Now , when the electoral commission fail to provide the results, it is up to the constitutional council to validate the results. Here, the constitutional council invalidated the results in the north due to mass fraud (I don’t agree with that). And based on this Gbagbo was declared the winner. 3) clearly we have a dispute about the electoral results. I must also remind you that the north was controlled by a rebellion in favour of Gbagbo’s opponent. To solve the crisis , Gbagbo proposed that the vote be recounted with the UN and the International Community as witness so they can see the fraud For themselves what Alassane Ouattara, the UN and International Community refused (weird) The French Nicolas Sarkozy encouraged for the war and this is what finally happened

African Biographics about the bombing of the French military camp in Bouake, it was the Byelorussians pilots who bombed the camp. President Gbagbo was forced to get some war plane from Belorussia to reunite his country divided by the French army to so called maintain the peace. During the failed coup d'état of September 2002, France president Chirac order President Gbagbo to stop the Ivoirian army who were chasing the rebels running back to the north and Burkina Faso of Compaore where they were trained. In doing so, Chirac prevented the Ivorian army to capture all the rebels and imposed negotiation a the only was to resolve this issue and refused to apply the defense accords between France and Ivory Coast because it was an internal conflict among Ivorians despite the facts that the rebels came from Burkina Faso and had some citizen of Burkina Faso among them. Back to the bombing of the French camp in November 2004 … France refused the investigation proposed by the Ivorian army and disregard President Gbagbo saying he didn't give the order to bomb the French military camp. He said to a French journalist "You can at least agree on the fact that I'm not stupid to order that my army bomb the French camp." The French refused to interrogate the Byelorussians pilots who bombed their camp twice. First in the Ivory Coast when the Ivorian army wanted to hand them over, and the second time in Togo, at the airport in Lomé when the security informed the French that they had the pilots. All the French government did was rolling their tanks to Gbagbo Presidential Palace to arrest him which led the Ivorian People to take the street and surround their president Residence and the French military base which is in Abidjan since 1961. The French army killed more than an hundred unarmed civilians in Abidjan in the events that lasted several days. @@mathewomolo I agree with what you say and the freedom to overcome this situation is in our hands. The West is powerful and have means of control that they use over some of our people to achieve their goals. As long we resist and fight smartly, we will reach that point where we impose respect to the rest of the world. Their weapon, divide to conquer, ours unite to claim our own power. easy sad than done, but no one wins by talking. And actions can lead you in situations such as the one Gbagbo went through.

'African Biographics' please do a report on what alassane ouattara is doing in the Ivory Coast since being put on power by the french. He put people from the north at most important positions and justify it publicly. The country's debt, corruption and cost of living are out of control. There are several political prisoners and no freedom of speech. As a reminder or be informed that there was no political prisoners under Gbagbo rule, just dead rebels in armed coup d'état attempts.

To solve the crisis , Gbagbo proposed that the vote be recounted with the UN and the International Community as witness so they can see the fraud For themselves what Alassane Ouattara, the UN and International Community refused (weird) The French Nicolas Sarkozy encouraged for the war and this is what finally happened

in a nutshell ... Gbagbo was elected in 2000 and wanted to review all the agreements with france in order to improve the economy and meet people expectations. This didn't seat well with france still holding on to old ways to run Africans counties. As usual france supported a coup d'état in Sept. 2002 which failed and force Gbagbo to negotiate with the rebels by deploying its army who have a military base in Abidjan that Gbagbo wanted to closed. It took eight years of negotiations and concession from Gbagbo like accepting a rebel as prime minister a several unqualified others in his government. Finally Gbagbo agreed to hold elections in 2010 in which rebels took control of all polls in the zone the zones they controlled. So many frauds were reported in rebels zones in the 2nd round. The french and US ambassadors help had the president of the foreclosed election commission by himself read their numbers giving the victory to ouattara in his caimpaign HQ in violation of the Constitution and all the elections rules. The election Commission could not give official temporary results before the 3 days deadline, temporary results since as per the Ivorian Constitution its the Constitution Counsel which gives the final results. After reviewing all the ballots and removing the frauds, the Constitution Counsel declare Gbagbo the winner and Swore him in the a 2nd and last term with the protest of sarkozy of france who bomb the presidential palace and the city of Abidjan to install their puppet ouattara. I mean this might have happened under Gbagbo but remember that it all started with the ivoirity concept brought in by Bedie. You can not say that Gbagbo did not try to bring peace even after the 2002 coup. I remember people dancing coupe décalé rather than killing each other between 2003 - 2010. I grew up in treichville one of the most Muslim populated area of Abidjan and between 2003 - 2010 this discrimination had stopped. For the 2011 election, the winner of the war became President let’s be honest. We had 2 parties claiming victory we should have let the constitution and the Supreme Court decide of the winner rather than letting the weapon win.

I'm liking your channel and your narration of our history. However, forgive me but I can almost hear the bias that you do not believe the French were responsible as Gbagbo claimed. For all of your narrations so far if you cannot see the meddling done by the French/u.s. etc as the reason why Africa experiences SO many coups. It'll be the VERY reason why we continue to have so many😤.

African leaders are all the same, though we have made a slight progress towards democracy. In Uganda we fought for 22 years to remove both Idi Amin and Milton Obote . My family was financially able to provide resources to support our troops. We decided that we rather go bankrupt than allow these evil men to ruin our land.

16:30 @AfricanBiographics, Your content from this point explains the title of this publication and sounds very uninformed, given that it shows that your piece has been published only 6 months ago. Unless you purposefully made the choice to be biased and trash president Laurent Gbagbo, it is amazing that by NOW (6 months ago) you're not aware of France's shenanigans in regime change in so-called francophone Africa countries. The way you put it, France has no implication whatsoever in taking out Laurent Gbagbo and puting in place Alassane Dramane Ouattara. I am not an Ivorian national, but as an African of West Africa I have come to realize that our west African leaders might not be angels or saints, they can even be very corrupt and power-hungry. But for the most part most of them have simply been in a voluntary servitude to France. And the ones that choose to not dance on FRANCE's beat, have learned the lesson. Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso has. Kadhafi of Libya has. And Laurent Gbagbo has. But I can tell that you will disagree and argue that France and the West have nothing to do with those cases. And I will be patiently waiting for your next publication that will make the claim that Assimi Goita of Mali and Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso have been wrongly blaming France for nothing. But I am not surprised, because this would not be the first time our own people serve as the mouthpiece of the colonial powers. Yes, from slavery to colonization to modern day occupation of Africa, there has always been the enemies from within facilitating or better yet, doing the job for the outside obscure forces.

It's full of lies !!! alassane ouattara was never elected by the Ivorian People, he was installed by the french army in 2010 to maintain french neo-colonial system in place.
