You mean there's OTHER adaptations APART from Muppet's Christmas Carol? No I don't believe it. (btw I love this series of videos, great concept so well done and thanks)

It's become a family tradition to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol every Christmas in our house - usually on Christmas Eve but this year it was Christmas Day sandwiched between extended family zoom calls. It was the one bit of Christmas the Rona couldn't take away. In happier times we even attended a Sing-along-a-Long version in Leicester Square, London.

The Alistair Sim version is my favorite. My whole family loves that one. It's just lovely and perfect...and we always like to watch out for the scene where you can see the cameraman in the mirrors reflection! lol

"Ghosts.... BLAH....." That made me laugh a little too hard. Great video! Love me some Dickens!

This was great, and I've just passed on the link to a "Christmas Carol" connoisseur I know, but you didn't discuss the 1938 film with Reginald Owen as Scrooge. It has its weaknesses, as I guess all the versions do, but the mood is right and portrayals of the Cratchits and Fred are spot-on.

mickey's christmas carol was my favourite christmas special growing up! I was always upset if I missed seeing it when it aired. haha! (luckily it usually got repeated) I was the same with the 2009 one. I didn't have high hopes for it and ine of my friends (whi usually likes everything) absolutely hated it so I reluctantly sat down to watch but I actually enjoyed it and thought it was pretty decent. like you I haven't felt the need to rewatch and doubt I will but it is something I would watch with kids if the occation arises. I hope you had a great Christmas and are having a good week! 😊

My favorite version is Alister Sim Scrooge (1951) the George C. Scott version (1984) is a close second and I would put Muppet's Christmas Carol at #3

For me it is a tie between the Alistair Sim version and The Muppet Christmas Carol, I own both on DVD and watch them throughout the year. A close runner up is Mickey's Christmas Carol which I have watched on TV at Christmastime every year since I was a child.

"A Christmas Carol" was only revised by Charles Dickens from an existing manuscript. The original was written by an American couple, Mathew and Abby Whittier. Some of the evidence can be seen in this blog entry: www.ial.goldthread.com/blog11_11_19.html

Not sure if you know, but you've uploaded two versions of this video; one without all the pictures and this one. Great job though!

Haha, yes I know. I put the first one up yesterday by accident, but decided to leave it up for a day to allow for some crossover as all of my Twitter links lead to the original video and not the correct one with pictures.

I was kinda sorry your Emma adaptation vid review predated this year's version but I'm kinda glad for both our sakes this was before the horrible grimdark adaptation of the BBCs by the bloke who did Peaky Blinders although seeing you react to it might have been interesting. David J Bradley gives it a good pasting though.

Read the original text of the story. It’s darker than most of these adaptations.
@LaurenWade3 жыл бұрын
You assume I hadn’t read the book before making a video about how said book has been adapted to screen? 🤣
@thomaspeacock72483 жыл бұрын
@@LaurenWade yes I did. You never mentioned that you had read the original story that Dickens wrote.

"Scrooge" from 1970 is the best version! Always has been. The Jim Carry version from 2009 is the second best. "The Muppet A Christmas Carol" is the worst! To childish for my liking.
