This man was a genius. With a gentle soul and uncanny ability to arrange tunes for the guitar like no other.

It makes me sad that I JUST discovered this man.. but it makes me happy to know that I’ll be hearing all of his music for the first time going forward. This guy was amazing 🙏

I discovered him from watching Runway Girl (1962) at 23:20 today! A wonderful variation of Mr. Lucky, unless it's a similar song Mancini wrote. Let me know what you think. Mancini on Lawrence Welk was great too. Bob Ralston played Mr. Lucky on the 1981 Hammond Elegante organ iirc.

In addition to being a wonderful guitarist Almeida was also a great arranger of tunes for guitar. His arrangements add a depth of beauty and thoughtful commentary to many classic melodies. Most (I don't want to say all) of today's technically polished guitar heroes don't even approach his level of musical understanding and expression. He is one of the world's all time greatest guitar heroes. Not better than all the others but certainly in the company of the best.

Yes, it is a misprint. According to Wikipedia, the song title is spelled "DEAR HEART." In every reference I could find, the second word is spelled with an 'E'.

Two questions: 1. When was this recorded? 2. What make of guitar is he playing?
@HarryVerey17 күн бұрын
Guitar is a Takamine HD 90 which I also have. It is an a electro-classical guitar and really should be plugged in to hear at it's best. In this case it is not connected to an amplifier and is only being heard acoustically through the stage mic. .
