Interesting: whenever I’ve mounted mic boom arms to a drum rack, I get a heap of resonances from the mounted drums and cymbals through the rack and up into the mounted mics, so I’m guessing the non-isolating mic mounts would cause similar issues? Any thoughts on this …?

Personally I believe you should always use stands, and never mount a mic to a drum rim or drum rack. Point being that these mics are too heavy to rim mount, so if you are in a situation where stands are not possible, rack mounting would be the best solution. Using some form of isolation for the mic (shockmount, etc) would be highly recommended, but that is for the engineer and their available resources to resolve.

These look really interesting. Do you think these could give Josephson e22s a run for their money in terms of best tom mic?

@@tomnaumann2104 yeah that would be awesome. I had a pair of the DM20s, but the bleed was much louder on the DM20 compared to the E22s so I ended up moving on from them. They sounded great, they just didn't hold a candle to the E22s. These Lauten Tom Mics, at least on paper, sound like they should be able to do the trick for a lot less money.

Came back here to say I ordered a pair from y’all, and they are the real deal. Full frequency response with excellent off-axis rejection. Josephsons are going to find their way onto reverb shortly.
