I can't believe this is easy for people. I am having the hardest time and have spent HOURS trying to get cables to work. I've watched videos from the company , Dan at the Gig Rig and a few others. I'm beyond frustrated. I bought 4 packages and I've got 3 good cables out of 28 attempts.

Its not just you. 30+ yrs experience and pretty good with a solder iron repairing all my gear,pedals,guitars,cars,appliances....Hell, I practically rewired a entire Delorean thats infamous for its crappy Lucas wiring yet these cable fail. I LOVE Lava guitar cables but this is by far the most expensive way to buy cable. Unless you are just OCD anal about getting the exact length buy premade. Almost *every* time I had a issue/glitch it was these cables. After a major glitch during a gig I said thats it. I ended yanking all of them out my multiple rigs and ate the time,effort and money. For those who swear by them,congrats!!!!

Only product in music business I hate is Lava Cable. They sent me wrong cables with wrong jacks, I managed to do somehow but when I think of Lava Cable only thing I remember the enormous pain on my fingers!!!

Finally abandoned using these cables after tussling with them over and over. No warranty replacement either. Just blamed earlier this year for not assuming I didn't assemble the cables properly. Switched over to Sinasoid cables with no problems whatsoever. Excellent customer service and highly recommended. Pass on these cables 110%.

Yeah, these supposedly best yet cables are horrible. One cable worked, the others just made my amp mad. I knew I should've splurged on pre soldered!

+dostacos I bought them online. I think through Reverb.com or Amazon. It was over a year ago. But they work great once I finally learned how to assemble them, thanks to this video. I was pretty frustrated when I first got them because I didn't know what I was doing.

Woah! I had no idea Lava Cable was based out of my hometown. Needing to wire a pedalboard, I guess that helps make the decision on what to use.

Cut 1/2 inch add sleeve..Sleeve too wide for cable. Can send pics. Using red tightrope cable. Can I trade these newer connectors for the older ones that worked perfectly? I have 10 of them. These connectors do not assemble well with the red lava cable I have. The older connectors work much better for me. When they occasionally fail. I just unplug the pedal and re-tighten the connection. I play professionally and just do regular maintaining of my board every couple shows depending on how much the board gets knocked around. So, I’ll trade you these 1/4’s with the sleeve for the older kind. Or I’ll trade you 15-20ft of cable for whatever is a little thicker to make the connectors I have work. Cuz the current method ain’t working. Thank you for all you do. I do really like Lava.

2-piece Tightrope plug works with Tightrope cable only. 3-piece plug works with mini ELC stranded only.

The instructions included in the kit do not mention cutting away the inner black layer before pushing the stem on the sleeve. Lava, for the sake of myself and other folks having a hard time (I see there are plenty in the comments below), could you please update the included instructions to be more detailed? For something so seemingly simple, these little things are incredibly frustrating.

Lava Cable I have had much better luck after following the steps in this video. Getting the length of cable above the sleeve just right and removing the inner black layer seemed to make all the difference. Thanks for listening and for the great cables!

Yeah, figured this out too, it just didn't work and i had no idea what was wrong, tried stripping the black layer and bingo, also cut off enough of the braid or you can't push the cable into the plug AT ALL and your thumbs will be very sore haha. Pretty easy if you know what to do.

i've really been having a difficult time with these. i don't have a cable tester, but i do test the patch cables by connected my guitar directly to my amp...and they seem to work. but when i stick it into my effects rig, i often encounter problems. i gave up last night trying to troubleshoot the problem 'cause i was just tired. but i'm gonna try to fix it tonight. man, if i had enough cable, i'd just start fresh...but i don't have any more :(

Just awful, sorry. Tried for about an hour and still getting no tip to tip connection. Moving these onto another sucker and back to soldered plugs.

DO NOT BUY LAVA CABLES!!! VERY POOR QUALITY. EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. 👎👎👎
