The mike does work with the Galaxy S20/S20+, but it only works in Pro Video mode with the rear camera (go the the plus in your camera app and add pro video to your camera list). OTG mode has to be turned on, as well. It will not work with the selfie/front camera. I hope this helps!

Thanks. This really helped. I bought a dual mic about two weeks ago and it turns out that my phone did not support an external mic. I tried different brands and was fed up not until I come across this video. You don't need an app to get this to work. The Android I have has a recorder as an app. Go to settings on the recorder app already in the phone and be sure everything is set to "on" and then it works. I didn't need to download an app. Setup took less than a minute.

Thanks for sharing another option that might work some people depending on their device. Sadly on my device, a OnePlus Nord, the Recorder app doesn't offer me this solution.

Thank you, I definitely needed your help as I couldn't get it to work at first. I almost boxed it up for return as one mic wasn't working but thought I'd check both mics were charged properly. Also thought the receiver wasn't fitting properly with the thick case on my Samsung S21 Ultra but after removing the case I realised there was plenty of room. I'm really happy with the sound quality.

Terrible this isn't a standard option inside Android. The little manuaI hints nothing like this and I went in USB debug mode as the receiver was recognized as something that needs charging. Fortunatly there is your introduced app, and you to introduce it! 🙂 Thanks a lot for saving the day!

@@fixitfallows Yes I did. Even in developer options verified the audio routing enabled. Need to say I am still on Android 10 one Nokia 7 Plus (Android One) so that may be the problem. Open Camera at least has a solution so I can use this phone for recordings. Thank you mate!

Just arrived... but 60 feet is a LIE - I walked 120 feet from the camera with no problem. No hiss, No dropouts. I reviewed the sound later and wish I had gone further. Also, nobody mentions the reverb mode. TAP/click the Power button 3 times and the green light blinks, then solid. Now it's in reverb mode. Sing a little something and press 3 times again to exit reverb mode. The light will blink red for a moment, then sold green. Now it's back to normal recording.

Hello Craig! Shel all the way from Singapore here. I bought that exact mic last year, thought was spoilt and bought a second one with the same problem.... static. The sound quality from these mics is barely acceptable. It is like low bit phone quality, with an annoying noise gate. The sound from built-in android mics is more faithful. I got mine for £7 on ebay. Glad I did not pay more.

I bought this one on ebay but I think they upgraded the on button since . No rattle . It cost me $20 AUS delivered . Works awesome with that camera app you downloaded . Another setting under " Camera preview " Is " Show sound meter " . That way you can see if its picking up the mic .

Both the transmitter and receiver have reset keys (according to the manual) they appear to be small pin holes at the end of each respective unit. That's got to be worth a go.

I bought a slightly different model, and it also sounds muffled like it's under a cushion. I don't know how companies manage to make bad audio in an actual audio product. So I stripped it down and swapped the electret capsule for some other capsuels and it buzzes too much, so i put the muffled capsule back on, Why do some capsules buzz and others dont? Surely there is something between this and the 100-200 quid wireless phone mikes which sounds ok?

I've just become aware of this possibility..... I don't have access to my mic at the moment so haven't been able to try it personally.... but..... In "Sound & Vibration" under "Advanced Settings" change "Default Recorder" to "Add ons". It seems the default of "Auto" will predominantly select the onboard Mic over anything else..... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ It's worth a try, please let me know how it goes.

I've just tried to connect to my GoPro Hero 4 Silver (yeah I know, a bit yesteryear). It wouldn't connect. On the GoPro you connect Bluetooth devices via the phone based App. The mic shows up in the app, which subsequently tells the camera to begin connecting..... however it seems the mic must utilise the USB plug-in section which comes with it. This won't attach to my camera as my Hero 4 has USB Mini B connection...... it might work with an adaptor..... perhaps 🤷🏼‍♂️ So if your camera has USB C you may be ok.

Not that I've noticed yet, but then pretty much I haven't used it for "to the camera" stuff so far. I would say that I've lost some of the native lens selection whilst using Open Camera along with the brightness/contrast being a bit scetchy too. This is leading me to favour the stock camera on my OnePlus Nord, which doesn't support the BT mic 😕

So these don't actually use Bluetooth. The plug-in bit is a radio receiver which the mic transmits to We have all found that you need to use Open Camera and ensure that OTG is active on your device. The stock android camera software will not recognise external mics.

Does your phone allow OTG via / over USB? This needs to be active for the USB plug in mic receiver to be recognised by your phone perhaps Google this for your specific phone Good luck.

1) Have you definitely selected the External Mic option within the settings of the Open Camera app ? 2) is the Mic/Transmitter unit definitely pairing with the Receiver unit ? On mine the light on the Transmitter turns green. 3) The Receiver unit has a small red light to show it is being powered by the USB port. If you have no red light, try plugging a USB C power lead into the side of the Receiver unit. Failing that, there are small reset pin holes in each of the units. Good luck

No, only ever been able to use it on Open Camera. Somehow Open Camera overrides the Android restriction on allowing external mics..... but only whilst using Open Camera.

That is the very point of the video 🤣. I acknowledge my poor audio, I buy a cheap mic, I show how to overcome the inherent Android external mic connection issue and show what level of audio range and quality you can expect from such units. All caveated by the clearly expressed fact that it is cheap (in audio equipment )

The open camera app is very limited, can't see the video in Gallery and thus can't copy and paste it to my PC to edit before uploading to youtube .... did you manage to find any better software?

That has not been my experience of it. My OnePlus phone displays video in my stock "All" gallery album, "Video" album and in a standalone "Open Camera" album. With the myriad of settings within Open Camera you can choose the prefix for file names too. As a consequence I've not felt the need to seek out an alternative package.

This unit is for Android phones that utilise a USB C connection for their charging/peripheral ports. Similar units are available specifically for iPhones which currently use the proprietary Apple type connection port.

I'm just about to put a new video out as I have been made aware of another possibility. It works on my OnePlus phone even on the stock camera, Open Camera not required. Under "Sound & Vibration", "Advanced Settings", change "Default recorder " to "Add ons". It seems the default setting of Auto only ever selects the inbuilt mic. It works for me.

You had to buy the other version for your phones charging port . I think a adaptor from USB C to the old style might work though .

@@creativeminds5773 try resetting the transmitter and receiver, the manual says there are small resets holes on the end of each. The manual also states that on Oppo, along with some other brands, you have to ensure that OTG is activated. You'll find details easily enough about this on Google.
