I have been saying the same thing. Lamar did this to himself. You don't send your homeboy or your mother to negotiate with billionaires. You get an agent. QBs are the face of the organization, and he wants to keep it real and not cut his hair, stay with that South Florida bad accent and not work on his diction and vocabulary, and no agent. I am a Black man, and I would tell Lamar if I was the owner. You are the fact of my organization. At the end of the day, this is business. Get a decent haircut. I have this person who is going to help you get rid of that horrible South Florida accent. You are going to carry yourself as a leader and the fact of this organization. If Lamar was on defense and after the game, no one was putting a microphone in his face, I wouldn't care. These are the realities that the white owners will not say publicly, and the white radio host and TV host can't talk about it. It's shows like this with black ex NFL players who can be honest about Lamars situation. As the QB, you have to look and play the role of the face of a multi-billion dollar organization. Talking ignorant and wearing your hair like you're in prison ain't going to get billionaire owners to take you seriously. That's just the truth. We can call it racist but again, I am sure a Black owner would tell him the same thing. Clean it up. This is my business, and I am not going to let you F up what I have going on. Bottom line Lamar just K his career by keeping it real dumb.

Exactly. They wanna turn it into a conspiracy so bad… They want this to be a race issue so bad. Or collusion. No it’s just common sense. Look at the Deshaun Watson contract. He’s been terrible and it was way too much money. Look at the Russell Wilson, contract terrible and the Denver broncos are terrible. Lamar Jackson is missed 10 games in December. We cannot rely on him. He’s one of the worst quarterbacks in the league to give a fully guaranteed contract, just based on the style of play and his injury history. He thought he was being clever by sitting out last year, but all it did was make him look even more fragile.

He IS the problem!!!! Wtf LA!?! When this much money is involved teams are not going to talk to you without an agent! And how the fk is he blackballed!?! People love that word!
@KClouisville
@KClouisville Жыл бұрын
This, if you're negotiating something and you ask for something no prospective bidder is willing to pay....you're not being "blackballed".....you're asking for something they won't agree to. It doesn't matter if a year or two before someone got lucky with a desperate bidder and overpaid them. This isn't hard to understand. I think a lot of this is former players not happy about how the whole contract process works....the CBA, the franchise tag, etc.....but that's a whole different thing. The players have a union....use the union for leverage on those things when a new league contract is negotiated. Until then, you're playing by the rules set down.

Why is everyone bringing up Lamar's MVP from 2019? I can't go to my boss and say, you know I was an employee of the month back in 2009; let's talk about a raise, but the company is in the red. Lamar is good but must stop because he's comparing himself to Mahomes. The negotiating power that Mahomes, Brady, and/or Rogers have is because they've won Superbowl(s). When the team traveled for the playoffs and he purposely didn't travel with the team but was fully capable of doing so, that was the last straw. Baltimore is known for Pimpin' not for Simpin'.

I think back to a few weeks ago when DeCosta was talking to the media and indicated how a proper negotiation should go. He said " it takes 2 to tangle" and "both sides needs to give up some things to get other things." When I saw that I started questioning if Lamar was going about this the right way and now hes kind of proved he isnt. If Lamar had proper advisors he would've taken a 4yr deal 2yrs ago and would be about to negotiation another one next yr at 27yrs old.

I read the memo, it was a reminder (warning) for teams to stay within the collectively agreed upon parameters. The NFL did not lie in the memo. Formal negotiations are a time to exhibit intellect and maturity. Jackson's accusatory response followed by a tweet proclaiming "I'm the storm" didn't help his case and looks childish. Couple high demands (deserved or not) with a combative attitude why would anyone want to deal with him? He needs representation

If Lamar would of excepted the contract offered back in September 2022 3yr/133M he could of made 44M + a season bonus, but he decided to play on 5th yr option where he only made 23.1M so he costed his self 21M, if he decides to play on non exclusive tag 32.4M he's going to cost himself another 12M next season, so if Lamar was smart he should get an agent to explain this to him!

Amen! All these “feel” people do not understand that there is this force called truth. And it is undefeated. It is exact and not some average. Thus, Lamar is not in Desean Watson’s position, and is there a desperate team like the Browns were who felt they had to upgrade their QB at any cost and made a lottery move and bet the whole house on a QB who has never made it to a conference championship. Stupid move! Lamar also has not proven that he can! If Mahomes were tagged now like Lamar, teams would have made higher offers than even Watson got!
@snowhawk04
@snowhawk04 Жыл бұрын
None of the stuff you are getting stuck on actually matters. From his business partner supposedly calling teams to the alibaba shake weights to Lamar rightfully defending himself from a popular Ravens fansite claiming he turned down a deal never reported. An agent isn't a miracle worker. An agent isn't going to magically get Lamar to come off what he wants and get the team to come up from what they want. Fans who don't know what they are talking about, like yourself, contribute to the messiness. The two sides are dug in and this is what negotiations look like when it gets messy. The Ravens insulted Lamar tagging him with the nonexclusive franchise tag. It's less money than the exclusive tag. They did it because they wanted to humble Lamar as they knew no team was going to sign him to an offer sheet to give him what he's worth. Only once in NFL history has another club submitted an offer sheet to a player on the nonexclusive franchise tag and it was an expansion team with tons of cash and tons of picks. It was highly improbable any team would put in an offer sheet given what's required (have to make space as he would count against the cap for upto 5 days). And it was happening at the start of free agency. But because Lamar is standing his ground on what he's worth, the situation has backfired for the Ravens. They still have no QB and Lamar continues to count against their cap. They have to keep a warchest (Lamars 32M tag + 4M in cap space + 20M in possible restructures) for that 0.0001% chance a team decides to burn 15% of their contracts to pursue Lamar with an offer sheet. So that means they can't pursue the best free agents. They can't pursue Hopkins, Evans, or Jeudy. They can't barely afford to pay for their rookies right now (would use 3.5M of the remaining 4M in space). The only dumb decision was not paying Lamar what he wanted when he was first eligible. Eric DeCosta knew Lamar was going to be expensive then. It's exactly what he told the media. He knew the longer they waited the more deals would happen and the more Lamar's cost would go up. Before last month, all we heard was Lamar was searching for a KIRK COUSINS deal (3 year fully gtd). The one deal we've heard the Ravens offer is a 6 year deal with less than half the money guaranteed. 45% of the total money was guaranteed, which is less than 9 other multiyear contracted veteran QBs (Watson, Cousins, Rodgers, Dak, Tannehill, Wilson, Jones, Jimmy G). The back 2 years of that contract isn't just below the expected QB market price then, it's barely at the QB market price now. It wasn't a good deal once you get over the top line numbers. The team is doing what they can to put public pressure on the guy. They were the ones that went to ESPN last month and told them he was all of a sudden looking for a deal that paid more than Watson. They were the ones telling ESPN that they were willing to trade him. This is how negotiations go down. It's a dirty business.

Such fine shall not apply, however, if the negotiation in question is the first violation of this Article by the Club during the term of this Agreement. It shall not be a violation of this Article for a Club to negotiate with any person named on (or not deleted from) the most recently published list of agents certified by the NFLPA to represent players. He might get a few sympathy segments on espn from a few but just listen to TJ and Plaxico talk man. This isn’t good for him man. This is bad bad. He’s probably just seeing red at this point with rage and will dig in even harder. Lamar can’t win this man. He’s losing so much money. Man he deserves to get paid but he overplayed his hand bad especially when the owners have dug in hard over this Watson contract, and the players becoming their own agents and walking into the bosses office trying to make deals. Lamar coming into DRAFT without a AGENT is the REAL OUTLIER which is why the COLLUDING NFL MACHINE is fighting extremely hard for Lamar not to get fully guarantee deal. If it was truly about fully guarantee deals Cousins and Watson would have not gotten one. A big part of the NFL MACHINE are AGENTS and INSIDERS. They all work together with the owner for the best interest of the NFL and not necessarily the players especially if you're not a QB. In my opinion and base on jersey sales Lamar is the true FACE of the NFL with his electrifying plays and humble respectable personality. A lot young people idolize Lamar because of his "RAPPER" like looking image and accent which is more identifiable with the next generation of upcoming fan. The “Wonderlic” test is essentially an IQ test with a heightened speed component that limits you to about 14 seconds per question. You may score higher by rapidly guessing instead of carefully focusing on each correct answer. If you are someone who typically analyzes everything carefully before making a decision, you’re not likely to have a high score. Lamar’s score of 13 is just two below the 15 scored by Dan Marino, Donovan McNabb, and Terry Bradshaw. This test has been disqualified from use in assessing players in the NFL because of the built-in bias in the test and the inappropriate interpretations of results dependent upon race. All it essentially does is give a bogus quantitative number for biased individuals to hide behind when they desire to label someone, usually Black, as unintelligent-or, in the reverse, exalting a player whom they already revere. It’s just one more thing that, unfortunately, too many people accept as valid instead of researching themselves.

@@chicagodude8888, those accomplished quarterbacks were listed to point out the invalidity of the test. Despite players of different ethnic backgrounds and positions having ranging scores, it is typical to see people parrot the low scores of Black players when they want to disguise their biased opinion as fact. Knowing Dan Marino’s score now has no effect on anyone recognizing his illustrious HOF career decades later. However, Lamar’s score was highlighted before he even touched an NFL field. It’s still being used, even after joining TB12 as the only players to attain Unanimous MVP, to diminish his intelligence. Having successfully played the position since 8 years old, his experience and instincts should weigh more heavily than anything.

The Watson contract is the issue. Not an agent. Not Lamar. Not injury concerns or anything else. Watson, who is terrible, even at football, is by far the highest paid in guaranteed money. Lamar has the 2nd best contract offer in history sitting on a desk in his house gathering dust. He didn't need an agent to get that. No agent is capable of creating the leverage that Watson had with multiple bids. The Ravens have franchise tag rights to match any offer, and no qbs have ever been traded via offer sheet in history, only one Dt had. The Ravens and Lamar are just waiting to see what happens with the market. Lamar is hoping for Burrow or someone to eclipse the Watson deal, and the Ravens already know that is not going to happen. The franchise tag is a weapon that, in this case, is costing Jackson at least 50 million in guaranteed money, maybe as much as 150 million. That is what the rules are, though, so I don't understand all the nonsense narratives. Lamar just has to play out the tags like Cousins did if he wants that kind of leverage.

@@austinstyles6393 the thing that ticks me off about Baltimore is why have a great QB like LJ and don’t get him a badass WR or RB. Jimmy Johnson did that for Aikman. They sabotaged him on purpose. I’m done..

Lamar getting a FULLY guarantee deal WITHOUT A AGENT at the QB position would be PRECIDENT and no doubt the next generation of QB will probably be influence by this and follow his lead to make it a TREND

As an Eagles fan, the Ravens will get rid of Lamar Jackson due to his non exclusive tag and draft an QB like Max Duggan from TCU since Max Duggan can throw the cannon out of the football and can run fast too. He can play against Bengals QB Joe Burrow, Browns QB Deshaun Watson and Steelers QB Kenny Pickett in the 2023 season as the starting QB. Lamar Jackson won't stay on the team so the Ravens will draft Max Duggan in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft. So Max Duggan to be in an Ravens jersey to be sold in stores.
