Anyone who hates Jason Newsted and calls themself a Metallica fan should never refer to themselves as such ever again, Jason is the reason Metallica is still around today.

I liked how when they started playing Orion Jason instantly went into a calmer mode that showed respect toward what he was playing and who wrote what he was playing. And then of course, when he started playing his solo again it was all lost in the crazy look on his face...

Why Jason plays everything with a pick is because it's his style. He didn't try to mimic Cliff. He played everything in his own style. Cliff didn't use a pick - he played everything with his fingers. And I know Jason also sometimes uses fingers, at least in the studio. But pick playing is his thing. Same with Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses. Pick is part of their playing style. Also, the original Metallica bassist, Ron McGovney, played with a pick.

Orion isn't a song, it's a feeling! It sends chills down my spine listening to this without the drums. And slower tempo like this makes it more emotional. The bass solo flowing into the guitars just runs through your veins and hits your heart. I love how Cliff, Jason, and Rob all had different styles and sounds, but they all brought something unique to Orion. By far making Orion my favorite song by Metallica. Been a fan since I was 8 years old. Keep Rocking, Everybody! ❤

Imagine a highschool bully make it 10, and now make the whole world looking at it You are the biggest fan ever of the bully and doesn't complain for years, 14 years, now the bully take a break and has nothing ongoing and you want to work with some friends during the break The break will last 3 years and an album is made in a kind of salvatrice pain : St Anger The bully says no, you've got enough of this shit, one third of the bully get in rehab and in front of the whole (some kind of monster documentary) world recognizes he was a huge dick and because of attachement issues didn't want you to leave the band, too afraid you could find something better elsewhere, not musically, but won't do it rightfully for nearly 20 years and his Danish friend won't at all. And now that you've cured your painkillers addiction and neck injuries Played a few gig with them in rock n roll hall of fame, you are still a fan favorite And most importantly, the bully went througt 3 whole years of therapy before another bassist joined them and 20 years laters, they seemed to have learnt of their mistakes because he never left, they have a lot of fun together, and Kirk released a solo album !

All Metallica bassists where extremely influential to the band’s success, Ron set a basic layout for the bands future basslines for KEA and Cliff added onto the bass lines(Cliff even gave Ron a backstage pack to Ron after security asked him to leave and Cliff said “That was Metallica’s first bassist!), Cliff then showed the band how to use Harmonies and Melodies effectively and initiated some of the basic fundamentals for the modern bass world, Jason absolutely blew everyone’s mind by being so humble and having absolute attitude and bringing his style of music from Flot and Jet, Rob, an amazing bassist has produced some of the dopest basslines in Death Magnetic, and though Rob can’t meet his full bass potential in Metallica such as slaping, he for sure can bring might that maybe Jason could have, what I mean is he played Dryers Eve fingerstyle, absolute beast. All bassists are fucking awesome and Cliff was thankful for Ron, and would be appreciative and thankful for Jason and Rob, even Bob Rock 😂

The way he plays the orion riff just gets me... absolutely beautiful. How the f could he improve that masterful riff... Genius! Well, his whole performance is though...
@tiborosz18252 жыл бұрын
He just played it the way Cliff originally wrote it. He did't change a thing. He also played a simple version during the guitar harmony. Jason kinda sucks as a bass player.
@Metzger1703882 жыл бұрын
@@tiborosz1825 hey dude! I don't know where you got that information from, but it's actually not correct. The way Jason played that riff - the slide in/ out and the Hammer on/ pull offs - is actually his way of playing it and not the original one by Cliff. Of course Rhythm and melody are the same, but what I meant was exactly these little minor tweaks of Jasons interpretation that makes it so special at least for me. Btw Jason is an absolute beast on bass!

I finally seen them play in 2000 2 weeks after I graduated high school and it was awesome. James did vocals of course but he really let Jason step up on a lot of the vocals the show is online here it was July 4th 2000 at Baltimore. Fucking awesome. It was Powerman 5000, System of a Down. Then Kid Rock w/ Joe C...then KorN...then MetallicA. Fuckin amazing show.
