Thank you very much for sharing. This has really helped me especially because I’m in my final year. I’m studying in the UK, and we do straight LLB, but I agree with you. I’m going to do my LPC & LLM instead of opting for a graduate job in the legal department of a company. Very very insightful 🙏🏽

In some straight LLB programs, they give bookkeeping for attorneys as an elective.

Clarify me here on the route to advocate: 1. I heard that you need to do 2 years of candidate attorney or 6 months/1 year of board exams in order for attorney admission whereby you need to do a further 5 years required experience of being an attorney in order to do 1-year apprenticeship/pupillage in order for advocate admission. OR 2. According to what you said: After board exams you can decide to be an attorney or advocate. Which one is this one?
@sethboyle778 Жыл бұрын
Hello, I see no one has replied to you and I am also on the route to becoming an advocate (only 2nd year of LLB). To become an advocate you need to have a LLB degree; then apply to the bar for a 1 year pupillage (quite competitive, advocates can only take 1 pupil a year); you go through LPC and advocate admissions exams; you get enrolled to the bar

Hi Atlegang...how can I became a prosecutor after completing my university Law degree, do I need to be a candidate attorney than a advocate than a prosecutor?
@amohelanghlalele74252 жыл бұрын
yes, you can. you don't need to do articles or pupillage first, head straight to the npa's aspirant prosecutor programme.

I really needed this, I'm a matric student. I've been wondering whether to start with BA law and do LLB later or just go straight to LLB.
@atleganggovuza67334 жыл бұрын
Definitely BA / LLB 🙂 all the best 🌸🌸🌸
@mkm23923 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. I am currently in matric and I am applying in a few months I was wondering if you become an advocate instead of being an attorney is it harder to get your foot in the door as in getting your first case (brief or referral) than just working as an attorney. Also how do advocates get their first cases.
@atleganggovuza67333 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard it’s better to be an attorney first because you establish connections. Those connections will know to brief you later. So it’s harder if you go straight to the bar after school. Advocates get briefs from the person who trains them and other counsel in their group. You start with small things like unopposed / opposed motion rolls but in time, you get better matters ✨

If I finish a Bcom(law) at a private institution can I still do that 2 year LLB stream at a university?
@atleganggovuza67333 жыл бұрын
It depends whether the university you transfer to credits you for the modules you’ve already done. That depends on whether your Bcom Law modules are recognised by that institution
