He may not make the clothes but he has a love and understanding for the craftsmanship and detail and care that goes into these clothes and whole outfits far deeper than most. Not to mention he does sometimes work with designers on concepts for custom red carpet pieces. So while he may not be making the garment, he could have a huge say on the final design of it.
