Sadly what you just witnessed through Law's backstory is actually happening irl as we speak because of the corruption of the world gouvernment. Oda sensei did a great job to portray how ugly and messed up this is , he even makes it way uglier and clearer in the recent chapters 😢 We need dragon to start moving in both one piece and the real world 😂

White Lead incident in OP is a reference to a incident before in real life where after Marie Curie discovered Radium, a radioacrive material, but people back then didn't have knowledge about harmful effects of radiation so at that time, people used Radium as a cosmetics and even infused in chocolates, thus, leads to radiation poisoning. :)

the thing is, even if Lami somehow survived the hospital burning, lead poisoning was going to kill her very soon and there's a very specific reason Law and only Law survives that condition. unless there's another miracle or someone discovered another cure offscreen, Law is almost certainly the only survivor of Flevance in the modern day; not even because no one else could have potentially escaped the genocide but because they were going to die anyway.

The saddest part is that there was no hope whatsoever from the start. From their birth, it was already engraved in their body, most of Flevance's people would've died by lead poisoning anyway. The nobles themselves are condemned, they're most likely dead too (unless Vegapunk or sthg acted) That's why the sister's speech hits hard ash, Goda made it again😭😭... Vegapunk would've definitely found a solution to this, but World Govt doesn't care at all anyway. Actually, with funds and time, maybe Flevance's doctors would've found something... Tragedy.

Law's backstory is the saddest for me. I know there are many extremely sad ones in OP but this one hurts me to my core. I have a younger sister and just imagining her burning alive shatters my soul. Losing his parents, his sister, all his friends, the poor Nun and then escaping under a pile of dead bodies at that young of an age... I can't even imagine how messed up his mind was after that.

I wonder sometimes if Law used his Devil Fruit abilities years later to give himself a vasectomy. I don't think he wants to risk having children who might be born with White Lead disease. I don't know if he'd even want children of his own but I'm sure he definitely would not want to have children and to watch them grow up in fear that some day they'll get white marks not heir skin and start to feel pain. In spite of his nickname 'Surgeon of Death', I doubt he'd want to see anyone go through what he, his sister and his friends went through.

@@Kavrina-h5f the argument isn't that the details are identical because along park is a much more simplistic story, it's that they have very similar plot beats of an ally confronting a pirate or in Robin's case the WG that is responsible for their greatest traumas, trying to break away from Luffy and end their working relationship, and coming to rely on and trust him more than ever. Robin and Law are much more similar plot wise and there's also a pattern of "I'm the last of my people" genocide survivors in the manga, but it's a thing Oda does a lot with Straw Hat friends to great emotional effect

Law basically got Bruce Wayne's backstory. Parents died in front of his eyes. Coincidentally, both of them are the sons of doctors. Spoiler Alert Corazon is kind of Law's version of Alfred.
