redd foxx was one of the first people to put all of his friends on when he made it big. he was friends with pat morita, gregory sierra, bubba, leroy & skillet, and esther was literally a life long friend. the next person to do that was richard pryor

They were really close friends. They knew each other as kids when they went to school together in St. Louis. And when Redd got into trouble with the IRS in the 1990s, he called LaWanda several times for help. People tend to think that because they fought so much on Sanford And Son they were not friends. They were very good friends, they were doing nothing but acting.

Something about when he was a kid and he went to where they were filming "CHiPs," and he stood near the front of the crowd and yelled hello to Erik, and he felt that Erik brushed him off or ignored him. That's the version I remember from his show when he had Benjamin Pratt pose as Ponch and he made fun of him. I think that Erik, like many stars at the time (especially through the strike), had their moments.

I wish I could have met her, you can tell the fsme hadn't changed her either. Just like someone you knew in the neighborhood. I'd tell her God Blesd you sister & thank you for the joy and laughter you gave us, "I don't care what happens I'm gon take care of momma ". Mm I love that. 😌
