@b.elzebub9252 Жыл бұрын
I don't think any sane person really expects a cop to just admit to being a cop when asked. But it's more about the reaction than anything. It's more along the lines of 'I don't trust you' or 'I think you might be a cop' to prompt the other person to somehow proof they're not a cop.
@dontsettlefor500mill Жыл бұрын
That's a reasonable assumption, that they are asking to feel out the reaction. However, I think it's mostly based on this idea folks have heard, some time in their life. It's an old rumor, and pretty common misconception, that was probably based on some truth, and was possibly the case, in some area, at some point. I think I remember the suggestion from movies. People think that's the definition of entrapment. Maybe the law was adjusted from that initial standpoint a while ago. Does a cop have to admit they're a cop, when witnessing another crime in progress, even if it would mean blowing their cover during a current undercover operation?

That second cop busting dude for jaywalking is unnecessarily rude and ignorant. People like him shouldn’t be cops. I don’t see how he is protecting or serving his community acting like this.

He didn't do anything good there. The poor guy he was harassing clearly had mental health issues. That cop was lucky that i wasn't the guy's dad. He would have had some real trouble with me.

@@tonyprice2256What would you have actually done? I'm just legitimately curious, would you have filed a lawsuit or something? I'm not sure what could even be done since cops seem to get away with so much even when their actions are ridiculous and unjustified.
@tonyprice2256 Жыл бұрын
@@Smiley-Coyote I know that a lawsuit would be a waste of time, because they are protected by the system. So it doesn't pay to play by the rules. I would be more likely to find out where he lives, bide my time and seek out a way to get some form of physical revenge either directly on him or one of his family members. They would not see it coming. I would make sure of that. I would be very patient, and not take any chances unless the situation was perfect. Rule number one: Don't get caught. I don't care who you may be, you won't get away with treating my disabled son that way.

@@tonyprice2256 I feel ya man, I know exactly how you feel, and honestly I'd probably do the same thing if somebody messed with my younger brother (he was born with a condition called Williams Syndrome, I'd describe it but it'll be easier if you Google it) Do you have a disabled son?

that dude who was trying to pick-pocket is like one of my biggest fears walking alone in public as a female especially in bad areas. not necessarily to be stolen from, but harassed or taken advantage of/trying to kidnap me are all fears of mine. I probably wouldn't be able to protect myself, and I have no fighting bones in my body nor have I ever been in a physical altercation, so I'd go down immediately. people are so scary...

Would you not take up some form of self-defence so if you do get approached by anyone with ill intent you will be able to look after yourself. It will also give you more confidence knowing that you know how to look after yourself? Just an idea. Have a good day.
