Two doctors and three others - including a woman known as the “Ketamine Queen” - are facing federal charges for the overdose death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry. Perry was found dead in his swimming pool last October. An autopsy revealed he died from “acute effects of Ketamine.” Perry was receiving infusions of Ketamine for treatment of depression but his autopsy report said those infusions did not cause his death. Law&Crime’s Angenette Levy outlines the charges the five face and what they said about Perry in this episode of Crime Fix - a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

Theres a lot of recent research indicating K in depression treatment. Sadly profit is what drives the US medical system and it is almost inevitable that desperate people would pay just about anything, esp with a profit driven 'doctor' (who incidentally lacks a doctorate) telling them whatever they wanted to hear. I cant help feeling that in a system that wasnt driven by profit and a 'war on drugs' this would have become near impossible, there is little motive. With the level of motive the US gives for this sort of exploitation, he absolutely needs to be made an example of.

I understand that drugs harm people in many different ways, but Matthew Perry was a drug addict. He did anything and everything he could to get high just like I did when I was using. To start blaming these other people for his death is absurd to me. People are saying that if this person didn’t administer this dose or he didn’t get this from whoever he would be alive today and that is complete bs. I also understand that he was a beloved Friends character, but people, Matthew Perry is responsible for his own death. If he didn’t get the drugs from those people, he would have gotten them from someone else. Death was imminent for him and it didn’t matter who he got the drugs from. I’m tired of people putting the blame on other people for the behavior and actions of addicts and alcoholics. We do this to ourselves. Bottom line. Period. End of story.

My brother died because he was addicted to drugs due to a quack doctor illegally prescribing him pharmaceuticals. Police didn’t even investigate that crime, and called it a closed case

This is giving me strong Michael Jackson propofol vibes. They each had a legal drug dealing doctor and they gave excess quantities to the “patient.”

Yeah, except for Conrad Murray only being convicted of manslaughter and was out of prison after less than two yrs. A travesty.

He was an adult. He chose to assume the risks and liabilities and caused his own demise. It's insane to arrest people over his death, which was ruled ACCIDENTAL.

I think because it was doctors knowingly giving/selling prescribed meds in massive doses for cash. That’s illegal. As an addict who claimed to want to be aober, he should have known better. As one myself, wouldn’t touch that ahot with a ten foot pole. He was in denial probably to start. Major red flag when he wrote that book after what? 1.5 years sober?

Drug dealers 100% take advantage of addicts. Addicts aren’t innocent but addiction is hard to beat. I tell my patients daily that if sobriety was easy, everyone would do it. And if you don’t agree, I challenge you to put your phone down for an entire 24 hours and every time you think about it or go to pick it up, that’s like trying to beat an addiction.
