You got a bigger torch. Incinerate the areas around the undesirable grassy weed. It works. I prefer that to what used to be done up until the 1980s. Turf renovations used to be done by covering areas with plastic and releasing Methyl Bromide+Chlorpicrin under it.

Hey Connor….I did what you’re doing to my backyard. Burned it out, tilled it, and went back thru and any roots or anything that looked like dead growth, I torched it out again. My neighbors thought I was a lunatic torching out black dirt…lol I let it sit for 2 weeks to make sure…then added sand and manure and tilled again, then planted KBG. I live in Chicago so my backyard is only about 1,200sq ft but I have never had one weed or poa or anything in 6 years. It took 6 weeks but holy crap…well worth it! *YOU CAN DO IT MAN!*

put the electrical wire into a HDPE pipe to protect it or wire conduit. Later easier to replace or pull another one. I would have dug it with a narrow shovel and lift the soil in one piece and put it back to original place , little sand as filler , golden. More work , less mess. The trench is huge. But hey , you like to work :)

Seeing a “Polaris” on the thumb nail do I really need to watch. Good thing your using it around the house because you don’t have far to push it when it breaks down.😂 Good thing you have the Honda as a backup. I was a Polaris man at one time & hated them. Is it a pipe dream? Ya probably….. Bro, that was classic. Very funny.. I’ve been on a similar journey with my lawn where every year I’m working on my lawn but cannot get it to where I’m satisfied. Aside from the weeds I’ve realized certain spots have some rocks & roots that have to come out. Soil is impacted also. Not as fun compared to burning lawn
@lawnrebel2 жыл бұрын
Lol.. Never seems to work out just right
@jasoncollins60172 жыл бұрын
Ain’t that the truth. I’m sure next season we’ll both be out there unsatisfied about something else. Just subbed, forgot how funny you are. Any suggestions on dealing with compacted soil. I’m only attacking spots where I have weeds or lawn died from heat. Liquid aeration actually work or is that pipe dream. Funny bastard
@lawnrebel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm sure that liquid aeration does work over time and with a lot of apps. The problem that I see with punching holes is that you are likely spreading around weed or poa seeds. I honestly believe that is how I ran into poa triv getting everywhere. I'm not sure what to say or tell you about compaction. If you core aerate then you'd want to collect cores. I could be totally off base. Just my theory.
