My Sears suburban tractor. Doing a few things to make it run better. Also a little bit safer

I bought a new ignition switch for my 72 Sears ss15. I can not get it to work and new some type of wiring diagram

I have a SS 15 and it will not start as well is it is really as simple as changing the coil?, how does this bypass the points, thanks in advance

Can't say that it will help yours but it fixed mine. All it has is the coil and a kill wire to the switch. Mine would start, it just took awhile to start.

Do you need a battery to use that newer style of coil? I'd like to not have to rely on points for my tractor, but I have no battery as I've switched to rope start

398811 is what I used, got it from Amazon...

Gas tank on this one is not the original. It was changed before I bought it.
