Go look at Reggie White Stats dont even compare close. Reggie White was an All-Pro at 33 L.T broke down at 28. Reggie White doesnt get enough credit because of his Religious Beliefs. That without plays a part. Take that out Reggie White was a 300 pounds D.E. all pro at 37 years. and had 16 sacks. Not to mention that at 27 he had 133 tackles and 18 sacks. SICK ASS NUMBERS.

Lomas was and ever shall be one of the greatest OTs to play the game, but LT was Superman. No single OL would ever be able to stop him. Lo gets credit for not being completely steamrolled every time. Dude was like an electromagnet to the ball and just didn't care what was in his way.

Great video! Lomas was a pro bowl tackle, very good player but LT was just the most unstoppable force and disruptive game changer that the NFL ever witnessed. No disrespect to Dick Butkus, but it should be called the Taylor award. There will never be a complete defender like him that could take over a game by himself.

Oh, he had his showboat moments. Many times. So, let's be real. And he deserved the right to. It's like people who say Barry Sanders never spicked the ball. The great Walter Payton did! Sometimes threw it in the stands too.. Not out of disrespect to his opponents, but bcuz he was passionate about the game. Had Barry been as passionate, he would've gained 20,000 yards, easily.

As a life long Giants fan I want to first thank the Saints for taking George Rogers instead of LT and 2nd having a GM like George Young who recognized greatness right away when LT was at North Carolina.
@byrongammonbyrongammon99376 жыл бұрын
Giving George Young credit for drafting Lawrence Taylor is like saying he was the only GM blessed with the gift of eyesight. The film doesn't lie. Normal rules didn't apply to LT. How many players blow through blockers on a run play knocking down both blocker and ball carrier?

@@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 True. Saints were foolish. From Jason Bernos of Bleacher Report: "This was a huge miss on the part of the Saints' front office. They chose the Heisman Trophy-winning running back from South Carolina over a linebacker who was being hailed as "better than Dick Butkus." Before the Draft, all 28 General Managers in the NFL were polled. They were asked to make a choice between George Rogers and Lawrence Taylor if they had the first pick. When Polled: "26 out of 28 GMs chose L.T. over Rogers in that poll. One of the two that chose Rogers was new Saints Head Coach/General Manager Bum Phillips".

Stephen Nixon.....if George Young didn’t let his blasted pride get in the way....he would have drafted Reggie White in the 1984 USFL Supplemental Draft instead of OL Gary Zimmerman and he would have hired Bill Belichick instead of Ray Handley to coach the Giants. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see that Lawrence Taylor was a no-brainer draft pick so George Young doesn’t deserve any credit for NOT fu**ing the 1981 NFL Draft up for the Giants.

My NFL hate list in order was Cowgirls, Giants then Eagles. It shifted over time to Patriots, then cowboys. But I was so happy the giants smoked the Deflatriots in both Superbowls that Giants became a distant 4th on that list. Kinda hard to hate teams that aren't dominant. We remember that Taylor had an essential assist on the Leonard Marshall hit on Joe Montana in Jan 91. If LT doesn't stop JM's roll dead in its tracks, then LM's hit doesn't happen the way that it does. And on the Craig fumble with less than 3 mins left, LT had made excellent penetration to be able to catch the ball when it popped out after Eric Howard hit it with his big old coconut. Say what you will about the NYG SB games, IMHO that 4th Quarter was the most dramatic and awesome quarter of NYG football in the last 50 years.

Dear sir, Giants’ NT Erik Howard’s hit on RB Roger Craig was the greatest play in Giants’ history. Lawrence Taylor beat two successive blocks by TE Brent Jones (LT swung Jones 90 degrees to his left at the snap) and FB Tom Rathman. Watch the video of this play and focus on the right side of the Giant defense. It looks innocuous but it’s not. People also don’t realize that Pepper Johnson’s oncoming rush to fill the hole forced LG Guy McIntyre to release from a double-team block on Erik Howard enabling Howard to rise from his right knee and lunge towards Craig as C Jesse Sapolu tackled Howard to the ground. It is an incredible example of things falling into place because everyone is intent on doing their job.

In his defense on a lot of those the giants rush was the cause of the sacks. It wasn't a one on one move on most. That giants team was sooo mean on defense. I always remember how brutal they were against the niners. 7-3 one game and 10-9 another from this time period.
@armandodelossantos7368 жыл бұрын
dude he didn't dominate Brown in this game, he benefited from the qb holding onto the ball like he had stick'em on his hands. the qb held the ball for 4 seconds sometimes and scrambled right into LT to avoid being sacked by the other defensive players. the title of this video should be the giants defense against a suck ass lions team
@che19258 жыл бұрын
Boondock Saint No doubt but you had Henry Marshall, Pepper Johnson, Gary Reasons, Jim Burt, Carl Banks to name a few. That D was phenomenal.

@@armandodelossantos736 So the QB throws the ball and it gets picked or he throws incomplete, LT still gets the credit. LT did the same to Aikman, Theismann, Jaws, Montana, Elway, ect.... So, your point?

Most or those plays Mitchell and who ever else the qb was had over 5 seconds to throw the ball.. You can't blame an OT for receivers who don't get open and a quarter back who doesn't throw the ball..
@johnsmith30916 жыл бұрын
Most of the sacks came on 4 man pass rushes vs 6 man pass protection schemes. It's not easy to find an open target when you have 4 options being defended by 7 dropping into coverage
@patrickq74894 жыл бұрын
Taylor was obviously great, but if they played 4 times then this cherry picked a dozen plays out of a couple of hundred. I'd have liked to see a few of when Brown won.

He got a lot of coverage sacks

Listen you damn well know that pure uncut pharmaceutical-grade narcotics are nothing to play with. The secondary was the WEAKEST unit on the Giants’ defense. The front seven (7) is where the rubber met the road. The Giants RARELY blitzed. Coverage sacks my left foot. How many All-Pros did the Giants have in their secondary besides Mark Haynes in the early 80s?!?

I love LT But some of these are the QB’s fault not the lineman.
@squatch5702 жыл бұрын
The lineman have one job... protect the QB and give him time to execute the play... and they failed. Just how could it be the QB's fault? Lol
@отпирайте6 жыл бұрын
Were there any lineman who managed to keep lt in check for one game at least?
@johnsmith30916 жыл бұрын
Jim Lachey. He played for the Skins in the late 1980's early 90s and was very good against Taylor. He and LT had some epic battles back in the days.

Von Miller has these skills.

I think I’d still rather be Lomas. Post football he’s had a nice little career, has been married to the same lady, nice family, has a much higher net worth and has never been arrested. His only issue was his comments about a Scott Mitchell and that’s better than being a drug addict with underage hookers. Lomas won.

Martin Edwards Yea, LT is my favorite player (bc I’m also a pass rusher who’s fast as fuck) but he’s not the best role model
@sagekult50445 жыл бұрын
Martin Edwards As long as football is played IT's name will be there. I have a dad, uncles, 2 grandfather's, and great uncles as role models. So I didn't need any pro athlete to show me how to be a man or a good citizen. Where Taylor's life took him is where he allowed it to go. It's his life not yours, and certainly not yours to judge with any self righteous comments on KZbin. Don't blame Taylor, blame the dickheads that promote famous strangers to be role models for children.

Yes; I recall watching a game that Munoz manhandled him. It was man meets rag doll.
@terrencedavis99216 жыл бұрын
tim5208686 not saying Anthony Munoz wasn't a. great player. Hell, he's in the HOF, but honestly, how many times did LT have to face him. It's not like they were in the same division or even conference for that matter
@terrencedavis99216 жыл бұрын
tim5208686 LT and Munoz only squared off once in their careers and LT had one sack in that game. I don't know if he was lined up against Munoz or not
@iamhungey123456 жыл бұрын
+Terrence Davis - Plus it was a small sample size so there was no guarantee Munoz would have had the same success had they met again. Players adapt and LT was known for this.
