Politicians have always lied, but it seems to me that before Trump came along they actually worked at it to make lies that would at least stand up to some scrutiny. They twisted the truth, omitted key details, and so on. But since Trump came along it seems a whole load of politicians have realized that you can say "The sky is green" and a whole lot of people whose world view is supported by the sky being green will agree, especially if you tell them the sky being green is the fault of some group they don't like.
