Here is the Christmas Eve, 1956 ABC Network telecast of Lawrence Welk's "Top Tunes and New Talent." This was Lawrence's other weekly ABC Network show (alongside his Saturday "Dodge Dancing Party"). You'll hear plenty of Christmas songs, and, of course, you've got the Lennon Sisters, Champagne Lady Alice Lon, Myron Floren, and many others. The program is complete with commercials for the 1957 Dodge and ("1960 New") Plymouth.
Originally aired on Monday, December 24, 1956.
My apologies for the video quality.
Enjoy!

Janet Lennon singing "All I Want For Christmas" (is my two front teeth), is priceless.

The Dicken's era caroling scene with shiny new Plymouths was hysterical! Nothing like good ole Christmas commercialism, even sixty years ago.

I could listen and watch the Lennon Sisters for hours. Check out Dianne's expression when Peggy has her solo at 8:04!

I always thought that Dianne seemed to act superior to the other girls, perhaps because she was the oldest. I got the impression she thought she was the star of the group.

An old jazz drummer friend used to relate stories of how Mr. Welk was ridiculed for the styles of his shows but he heard many stories from musician friends about how you wouldn't find a nicer fellow to work for in the whole world.

This was from the period that Chrysler Corporation was promoting the 1957 Plymouth as "1960 New" with that electronic and print media slogan "Suddenly It's 1960" as the claim that the cars were engineered three years ahead of schedule.

And the baritone is veteran studio musician Bill Lee, who provided the singing voice of Captain Georg von Trapp (Chris Plummer) in "The Sound Of Music"!
