Thoroughly loved this adventure as I do with all your bike packing and kudos for trying all the local food. I have a love dislike with Durian it's not the best or worst can't believe old mate hadn't tried it in 4 years needs to get out more. Also riding in SE Asia must be tough with the humidity. Here in Adelaide Australia riding in 40 plus is hard but we have zero humidity. Looking forward to more adventures.

Finally got notified of this video +4 days....odd. As always LC, great work. Durian is an abomination. I've heard it referred to as "cadaver fruit," so it's shocking the resident vegan munched it down.... Thanks for the adventure. Looking forward to your races this summer. PS: Are you sponsored my Tailfin? If you get £ for referrals, i want their new top tube bag...link?

I lived in KL for 14 years then in Vietnam for nearly 4. Durian is one of my favourite tropical fruits. Just don't bring them into the house until you're ready to eat them. Sugar cane juice is a great mid-ride pick-me-up. I often refilled my bidons with iced juice.

@bbikerlawrence @Cade_Media I'm from Johor Bahru and would like just to point out the route you took when you mentioned at the petrol station about the main road having many cars is not the safest for cycling.. You should have taken the seaside costal road which is cycling friendly and more scenic. As to you mentioning about the longest queue ever at the checkpoint.. That is 'off peak'.. If you had crossed during peak hour you would have gotten a shock of your lives at the amount of bikes trying to clear the checkpoint. Congrats on your Malaysian trip..!
@TriStruggleBus8 ай бұрын
Hi @hazmyzulkapri814, care to share which road exactly? I live in Singapore and coming back in via Ulu Tiram, Senai, Skudia via the J1 is always quite stressful. Maybe you have a tip for a better route!
@hazmyzulkapri8148 ай бұрын
@@TriStruggleBus J1 Jalan Skudai is terrible.. Even our local hardcore riders don't cycle there except for those heading home in that direction. The problem is your route is from Ulu Tiram - Senai - Skudai. From Skudai J1 is the only direct route back to SG. Unless you willing to add distance try to get from Senai to Pekan Nanas (via the inner roads) instead of to Skudai. Then follow the Iskandar Puteri costal highway all the way down to JB city via seaside road. This route is a known cycling route so most drivers are already aware of cyclist. Plus the roads have a very wide shoulder so it's so much safer. Also remember use the seaside danga bay route not Jalan Tasik.
@TriStruggleBus8 ай бұрын
@@hazmyzulkapri814 Thanks... yeah the stretch of road from Skudai to Danga Bay is sketchy, lots of slip ways, traffic, very little shady and lots of traffic including heavy vehicles. Once we get to the big Danga Bay intersection we always go down to the seaside road you you mentioned. I'll keep Pekan Nanas in mind, Lawrence's Strava suggests they came from there but didn't stay by the sea.
@hazmyzulkapri8148 ай бұрын
@@TriStruggleBus They took the Pekan Nanas way down the Iskandar Puteri costal expressway.. But they entered Jalan Tasik not Danga Bay.. That's the only difference.
