The very first twenty seconds I almost turned this song off the first time I heard it. She uses weird vowels, and it's a little grating during more quiet moments. I’m 46 years old. Been fighting depression for the last couple years. Trying to decide if I feel like I’m worth anything. God this song has been a thing of beauty for me. Thank you, all of you for putting this song out there. It’s not a cure, but damn for at least a few minutes I feel so much better.
@SamSherr-Nelson-n9e13 күн бұрын

@shaunfogarty30203 күн бұрын
the song is empowering. self ownership. determinism. hopeful of a future full of strength and (Charlie Sheen voice) WINNING!! I'm thankful that you wrote and connected here. You are making a difference in the world. You are valuable. (and I'm saying these things to myself because we all need to hear it; especially those prone to deep-rest-ion--> Jim Carrey or Owen Benjamin) I've found depression to be a time of reflection where your body and brain are making it apparent that you need to reshuffle things. You are overwhelmed from being something(s) that you think that you are required to be. Required by who? The machine; the system; western culture; society...the life that we, willingly and begrudgingly, subscribe to. This will be an odd thing to say, but embrace depression when it comes around. Know that it is just a temporary re-ordering of priorities. Typically, finding myself in depression tells me that I need to self-care. Workout. Get outside. Connect with people (that's the hardest one; but the working-out gives a hormonal and body-confidence boost that you can ride on the coattails of). I'm curious if any of this has been your experience as well? Happy Friday.
@shaunfogarty30203 күн бұрын
Part B. Sorry....coffee gets me blabbering. I think that the problem with wondering if you feel like you are "worth anything" is that we think that being "worth something" has to be monumental; extravagant; big-time; attention-grabbing, etc. We live in (slaves to) a culture where KZbin "influencers" pose in front of Lamo's, big houses, girls all around, bling, jets, etc. Yes, they have a lot of "fun coupons" (money; Wolf of Wall Street reference), but they are still slaves who serve it as their master. They are no happier than anyone else chasing "desires," or, as the Stoics call them "externals." "If you wish to be rich, desire less" “If you live in harmony with nature you will never be poor; if you live according to what others think, you will never be rich.” Seneca "It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor." Seneca "Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants." Epictetus "You always own the option of having no opinion." Marcus Aurelius "One does not accumulate, but eliminate. It is not daily increase; but daily decrease. The height of cultivation always runs to simplicity." Bruce Lee “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Yes. Excellent point!!!! And so many of us can relate to that frustration of not yet breaking in. Maybe that's the secret - appeal to the frustrations that we all feel - that's so universal - and then hat turns into a mainstream hit. Whereas - A song gloating about success would be such a turn-off. We all need encouragement in our aspirations!!!! Everyone, KEEP GOING! NEVER GIVE UP. Keep improving your craft, your product!

Gracie doesn't treat singing just another part of her work, you can see that she enjoys every bit of her performance. I think she, eventually, fight Clyde for certain high note parts so she could sing all the high notes and demonstrate her already talented voice.

My name is Lawrence. I was at work one day in the village. My uniform has My name on it. A German couple came up to me and asked for a picture with me because they went to your concert. I hadnt heard of you before. That was a few months ago. I am hooked. You two are amazing.

It must be said, Gracie is a star in this video. From the `hop over mic stand` to the `Kelly Clarkson head tilt band cue` to the `body roll look into the camera`... all in the first minute and it just keeps going... the video is loaded with a charm that seems impossibly spontaneous and choreographed at the same time (seriously, I can't tell). Her outfit and hair as well project the same effortless joy. And of this even before mentioning her vocal mastery There's a crazy amount to love about this video, but I just wanted to shout out to sheer domination of the screen whenever the camera was on her
