You know you're a big name in The Railway World when your engine is turned into a miniature model. Twice.

When I saw a pop up saying you'd bought another Ruston, I thought "OMG he's done it again" before realising it was another 7mm scale one 😂. Classic manic laugh from you there Lawrie. Well done mate! It'd be good to catch up again in 2025. I'll be back to blighty for another road trip to Wales in Ti'fourTwo. With son William and my brother in law we intend (among other things) to complete our exploration of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland of 2023 with a trip from Porthmadog to Caernavon.

It is incredible how shows are assembled and disassembled. Done various shows over the years from setting up stands for various companies I have worked at, to recently taking down model railway's at the end of shows and its always more interesting than the show itself.

I love how you can just see Lawrie visibly admiring his model engine of his own real engine I can only imagine how exciting it must be for your very own engine to become an officially produced scale model by one of _the_ big model manufacturers, now it's been done _twice_ Now all we need is a picture of smol and baby Ruston with big Ruston

@20:13 been after these for a while. I have all my rolling stock in so called dust proof display cabinets. Nope. It still gets in. All of their boxes are in storage and covered so out of sunlight to stop them sun fading. But, it is the dust on my rolling stock that gets me. I use a Makita 18v DUB185Z small garden blower that has 3 settings that I use to keep all clean. It is great for doing buildings etc., on your layout too. Used on setting 1, maybe 2 but, *never setting 3* as you will damage stuff. You never see anyone running Bayer Garrets. I have Heljans 2-8-0+0-8-2 bought from now sadly gone Hattons. Oh it ran rough from the box from day one. I sent it to Olivia trains in Sheffield to have them swap out & upgrade the motors, gear boxes, fit sound & Seuthe smoke with engine box flicker with running lights & engine box flicker. Runs like a dream now and has phenomenal traction.

Love your newest Rushton. The manufacturer did a great job. Loved the sound module in the DC diesel locomotive. Hopefully they'll catch the hooligan going around and spray painting your model cars. I live in California and the train "art" is sometimes very good. Your modular layout is awesome and it looks to be a good design for setup and takedown. Loved all the good looking railroading going on in this video.

I model u.s. but almost all DCC equipment here can run on dc. It's and sound impeticular is controlled by monitoring voltage applied. I don't know all the EU decoder manufacturers, but I believe all esu decoders have this feature.

There's a lot of fear around running dcc on dc and blowing the chip
@brillbusbootcamp23209 сағат бұрын
Very valid fear! The most common DC train controllers in the US absolutely WILL fry decoders. Pulse DC power is unfortunately common…

Can't speak for whatever he does, but we've had some running in previous videos. They've given no issues after a proper run at a show. I've got several other models which have run on my old layout without issue. I think that generally the diesels are OK - I hear people have had problems with steam, but I've personally not had any issues.

Lawrie, why do you end up with huge piles of nuts, bolts, and washers as you dismantle the Modular? Surely there is a better way to assemble your legs and struts so you can avoid the trail of discarded ironmongery? (Secondly, why don't you dismantle the bits into a tub??)
