That's how law works. Everyone has the right to attorney regardless if innocent or not. Attorney of guilty clients doesn't only have to defend their clients but they can also negotiate a plea deal with the court to make the sentencing a little harsh. Not defending Guo Hua Ping just saying the reality of the justice system.

Presumed innocent until proven guilty - that is expressly enshrined in our Constitution. I want Alice Guo to be held liable for her crimes but I also want to follow the right process. The Senate is not the right venue but the Court. She is not yet guilty since the Court has yet to try her case.

Yeah, a defence lawyer should do it's job and defend the client. They get paid to do it but the truth will always prevails. The evidence is substantial and the defence needs to counter the evidence. Apart from being unconstitutional, this would increase conviction rates because nobody wants to be a defense lawyer anymore. What would happen is everyone can accuse anyone and win because no lawyer on the right mind would risk losing and being also punished along with the client. Be angry with Alice. Laywers are there to make it fair. The Judge has the final say anyway.
