seems like you were a bit confused about mahito’s abilities so i’ll clarify a little bit about them. when Mahito heals he’s not healing the same way other curses do, instead he’s reshaping his soul so the wound disappears. the manga translation kinda helps clears this up. instead of saying “the soul always comes before the body” like in this episode he says “the body tightly conforms to the shape of the soul.” it’s the same way mahito gave himself deer legs, he changes the shape of his soul the same way he does with humans but instead of turning them into pocket sized weapons he changes his body parts to allow for different attacks.

I like to think of Mahito's "healing" like this Normal curses burn cursed energy to regenerate parts of their body. Mahito "keeps his soul the same shape", so his body "springs back to normal" when he takes damage. Much more efficient in terms of cursed energy.
