They probably would rather fail a first class mage with a test that’s too hard than let a subpar mage pass that isn’t first class mage material. But honestly I think they’d just say “a first class mage would’ve passed regardless of how hard it is; if one hasn’t passed Sense’s test, then there’s none that were worthy in that group”. Especially if they think the title is worth a lot and first class mages should be rare.
