I felt so sad that they rushed the moment between Yamaguchi and Shimada, because it was a really beautiful moment when he realizes that Yamaguchi is nervous, so he rushed through the stage just to get his attention and make him focus. It was such a beautiful moment that just remembering it made me emotional. Haikyuu is all about this little moments where they show their friendship, their love for the sport and how everyone got connected to each other because of their common passion for Volleyball. For me, it was way more disappointing than the animation being bad.

Exactly. Season 4's directing quality and pacing is so fckin bad. It's feel like different anime for me. Really love season 1-3 but season 4 is just not good enough. Manga is better option for you who wanna know the rest of the story and still got tge goosebump

I think they are rushing this season so you know, we have almost the full nationals in this season and the ending of the arc in the next one. Spoilers below. . . . . . . . . . . . I think we will see the beginning of Nekoma vs Karasuno this season, with the next one being the end of the match and the one versus Kanomedai, ending the season with Hinata in Brazil. Since Jackal vs Adlers is a match big as the Shiratorizawa one, we will have a full season of it. And also, it's kinda of the last match in the manga, so they will do a full season out of it.

The intro has nothing to do with this episode's animation. The pandemic and the fact that they had to hold for six months and destroyed their animation scheduled that are the problems here. Why do you think they outsourced this episode? Because they don't want to animate anymore? No. Japanese people were really affected psychologic because of the pandemic, mostly because they don't put their job into their houses, and they don't have our common home office culture. For them, the pandemic affected their schedule the most. One thing is the anime's like Jujutsu and Burn The Witch that were scheduled to arrive in October, other is an anime that were delayed because our world was in a lockdown and they couldn't work on the series. Seriously, it's not that hard to understand how animation and a studio has to work.

Yeah, it's only obvious Matsukawa was middle blocker, when Iwa-chan was wing spiker. It's kinda his job to block, that's why Mattsun scared him the most when Hinata spiked.

So the guy that was helping Yamaguchi, they cut out his panels from the manga, where he realizes the banner is blocking yamaguchi's "focus point" (they had talked about it the night before). The dude straight up gets up, says he has to be somewhere, and sprints the whole half of the stadium. he knew immediately that yamaguchi would struggle with it being blocked, and knew what he had to do with the bag, to remind him of when they were practicing, cause the bag was what they used as the focus point during practicing alone

We are not stupid, we don't need 3 chapters to understand that, come on. If you can't understand this simple scene at the first view, you are kinda slow or don't really watch your screen. Skipping those parts don't change anything except we don't have a lowcost Shimizu running scene, it's even better storytelling because we keep the struggle focus on Yamaguchi and then release the tension by an unexpected YET totally plausible and understandable. Not showing something is sometime a better way of showing thing.

Apparently for this episode, it was outsourced by another company that is why the quality felt iffy. This is one of the greatest games of the entire Haikyuu series and viewers deserve a good season. The outsourcing is for this episode only though.

Im glad they didn't cliffhanger us with Tadashi looking for his reset point, but at the same time I am not a fan of the pacing. Like I remember reading the manga and the second time the Miya Brothers doing the freak quick was super impactful because Ukai-san just finished saying "The strength of Kageyama's and Hinata's freak quick is that they can pull it off at any time, it would silly to assume the Miya Brothers is the same--" and they immediately do it with Astumu in the back court.

I kinda noticed when I saw it I opened the manga when it was airing on TBS and I realized they took out the majority of the side commentary and inner monologues Like Ukai's thoughts, some official commentary(?), some of Shimada and someone else, all of Suguru-Mika... Yeah, the second time the miya twins did was an exact replica of during the date tech match(i think it was that one) when kageyama wasnin the back and the date tech was saying he couldn't do a quick from there but then he does. They really trying to pull these parallels, but they really could be doing a bettet job of showing it. Its something youncould easily miss

The biggest problem of this episode was actually the pacing. they adapted A WHOLE volume in 25 minutes. yes they cut a lot of stuff, some very important to set up future moments and developments. In case you or anyone else that is reading this comment want to read these specific chapters you can check from ch254 to 260 (included. The ep stopped halfway ch 260, right after yamaguchi's second serve) Examples of scene that got cut: yamaguchi's flashbacks with his teacher to explain his serving method and the whole set up before him appearing with the pig bag (it's like 4-5 panels against 1 single and bad drawn screen shot), asahi's service ace against Aran + flashbacks with Ukai to explain his method to work with his anxiety (that will be super present during nationals), Hibarida (national team coach) acknowledging Hinata as a worthy partner for a setter like kageyama, different teams watching from Miyagi and kindaichi acknowledging that hinata got a whole lot better than last time they faced each other (seijoh, season 2), Yachi's inner monologue about hinata that is important for his development, the twins failing to do the quick to show their quick is not at kageyama-hinata's level yet BUT at the same time they showed to be able to do the quick from everywhere which is the thing that truly makes the quick scary and they did it right after Ukai thought it was impossible for the twins to do the same, different other commentaries from daishou and Akaashi about specific plays done by Karasuno... and go on The big moments also felt super flat, I'm definitely disappointed by the cutting choices of this episode.

this season has had such a great arc with Hinata that I wasn't expecting at all. The call back to Matsukawa's block, basically daring him to challenge him, getting in the mind of your opponent and saying you aren't good enough to get past me so hit it somewhere else is such a great mindset for Hinata to be in because it complements his playstyle of giving 100% at every opportunity.

After watching this episode, the Miya twins feel more like ordinary teenage high schoolers who bicker, quarrel & complain childishly rather than how they were seen in ep 13; all serious, cold looking & cocky. You do know. We have seen how much he helped to make Yamaguchi get better. You have seen the struggle that Yamaguchi has been put through about helping the team. That's why it's so emotional. Haikyuu makes everyone connects personally with the story and the characters making us seeing they struggle to grow, like normal human beings. None of them had some special training on a Time Temple like Gohan or Goku, they just trained harder and harder to develop. And that's why we get so emotional with this minimal moments.

Great reaction! Going back to what you said about the band and that no other band/crowd boo’d Karasuno. Think of it like this, there’s other crowds like this in real life, they’re portraying it in Haikyuu. Not every crowd is like that and Karasuno hasn’t experienced an environment like that before. It’s an extra layer of difficulty. It’s like getting mad at Ushiwaka for being left handed when they never played against a left handed player till now and it had to be in the championship game.

The pacing was too fast. They left a few nice things out, for example a part where Asahi measures bis strength and then hits a service Ace on Aran. Or a part that showed Yachi help Yamaguchi with his serve practice.

Everybody keep missing what the Tokyo reps are saying. They ARE NOT saying that Hinata realised he needs to level up to play with other setters. What they ARE saying is that Hinata is realising that other setters can get him the ball really quick. To say that basically having Kageyama isn’t a crutch! Because the simple fact there are setters that can keep up with his speed means that he can play his best even WITHOUT KAGEYAMA!!! Which is amazing because I’m tired of people saying “Hinata needs Kageyama” like no. Hinata is the quick one with amazing reflexes. What he needs is a setter that can keep up with him and Atsumu is showing that he can BE that setter. Which excites Hinata AND ME TOO LIKE OMFG

i understand why some people are disappointed about the animation recently, but yall need to understand that there’s a pandemic going on and everybody is affected by it one way or another. the production team have every right to postpone the show to a later date, but because everyone has been waiting for part 2, they did everything they could to give everyone a good show ALL THE WHILE protecting and preventing their team and staffs from getting covid. it’s okay to be critical but be compassionate too, since this is a weird and frustrating time for all of us. idk if yall are aware but work deadlines are strict in Japan given at how hectic their workload is and not to mention they work on multiple projects at a small amount of time. shout out to ayo focusing on the show and the story, and for genuinely appreciating everything about haikyuu. you are seriously and easily my favorite haikyuu reactor! more power to you and your channel! 💓

Ilay i was told that it’s not that easy to postpone or make a big decision like that because of how hectic and chaotic the animation industry in japan. like they all have these crazy deadlines from different anime series with little time to make ends meet so yeah... it’s okay to express your disappointment but do it in a way that it’s respectful and also use this as a chance to give them the assurance they need, so at least the burden they feel will lighten even just a bit. i just really hate those people who have been clowning and bullying the production team. the entitlement jumped out lol

Yeah unfortunately this kinda stuff happens when they change directors for an upcoming season.. I was honestly not excited at all when that was announced. The show's direction was taken by a different person in S1-3. The difference in S4 is so obvious, and I truly miss the thrill that Haikyu used to give me about volleyball.

I understand the feeling of many about how cramped the manga chapters were in this episode. But at the same time I also understand why it was done that way. In the manga, the Karasuno vs Inarizaki match took so long... if they follow the exact same phasing here, we may need season 5 just for round 3 and 4 of the Spring Nationals... but then it would be beautiful to have another season, yes. :) as for the animation... yes... it is a little different... but it doesn't matter! the fact that we can still watch it, just great to have that option... cause I love reading the manga... but seeing it being animated still feels at a different level.

I think the whole thing with the band is the writer's subtle way of saying, "Hey, the Nationals is different." Correct me if I'm wrong, but it might be a device for the writer to convey that the Nationals is, "The stage is grander, the court is harder, the lights are are brighter, the chants are louder, the plays are more aggressive, and the teams are here for the glory." Karasuno is going up against Japan's high schools' best of the best. The utter thought of "I'm giving it my 100% is not enought." You have to give each and every match your 1000%. Just my two cents.
