Just to add to the convo, When Sae got the ball in that last minute, EVERYONE was like fall back because no one thought that anyone could get the ball away from him. Even our man Laxzone was saying 'get back'. Isagi was the only one who stayed up in the goal area because he believed that Rin could stop Sae and get a steal. To go even further back, Isagi lost against Rin in season 1 due to luck, and it was something that Ego talked about. Not luck in the sense of a situation being unearned, but luck in the sense of using your skills and experience to be in a position to capitalize on something lucky happening. And here, when Rin connected with the ball as Sae attempted to nutmeg him in the exact same way he had done twice before, Rin was not aiming for a place for the ball to go. It was luck where it landed and Isagi had positioned himself to be able to move anywhere on that side of the box to land that direct shot.

Something people don't realize is that Rin isn't being approached by these defenders he is moving toward them and that's why it's irrational. Imagine cooking a defenseman on the left side of the field, keeping possession, running past your own teammates, to run all the way to the right side side of the field with the only purpose of beating/embarrassing another defender. 15:15 originally thought that Aiku said "If you think a striker could change the country." Led me to the thought that Itoshi thinks only a team can change the country. Not one striker, which is the only goal Rin sees. (No pun intended). I think thats why he changed to be the best midfielder. He wants to be on the best team with his brother as the striker. That's why he sees Isagi as better. He brings the best out of the team. Which makes him stronger. Rin wants to do it alone.
