I’ve been running chlorine through it for 6 months now and no problem. I’d hazard a guess and will say it will shorten pump life. Boiler should be fine. Pump should really be brass. Hi Mikee, I've got a hot tub with a built in heater and pump etc. We are going down this route to heat the water as it is on an off grid site with solar power so we're trying to save on the hot tub using so much battery power. Couple of quick questions. Firstly do I need another pump in addition to the hot tub pump? Secondly, does it matter where I tap the inflow and outflow to the hot tub pipes? Ours is a plastic hot tub with jet inlets so I'm presuming as long as the water is coming in and out it shouldn't matter? I'm going to keep the hot tub switched on and running. It's really just to stop the thermostat kicking in and using the heater on the tub so much. It would be great if you could point me in the right direction! cheers. David

@@mikee130274 Hey thanks for getting back Mike. That's great news. Always best to confirm with someone first before going in guns blazing! I'm going to have ours in economy mode which keeps the tub at 28 degrees when not in use. When we have guests it will just be a case of sticking the heater on for an hour or so. As the thermostats will only kick in the heater at 28 this will save on the batteries! It's not so much saving money for us as we're off grid and solar. It's the hot tub sapping my battery banks! If I heat the hot tub with a back up generator then that does cost a packet in diesel! This looks the best of both worlds as it is effectively a good back up too if the hot tub heater packs in. Thanks mate, really appreciate it 👍

It’s a KATSU® automatic self-priming pump. It initiates when I turn the smart plug on using my phone. Then the sonoff and probe will keep it at the required temperature. I set the range I want. For example. If I want to have the tub at 38c I put in 38.5c for off and 38c for on. This will keep it in that half a degree by itself. Then when you’ve finished your spa session. Turn your smart plug off. Next time you want to use it all you have to do is turn your smart plug back on. Those settings are held so it will automatically go back to 38.5
