A few years ago I was lining up to go on a ride at Universal, Florida and a group of American students asked me who we Brits considered to be British hero's. I struggled for an answer but if I'd known you then I'd have said " Dave from BrenTeck IT Support." I bought my Paris tub 2 years ago and found you when I was struggling to understand the enclosed instructions. I saved you in my favourites to remind me how to take down and set up the tub since then. Once again you have come to my rescue today, helping me to put the canopy together and now I can relax in the 40 degree tub no matter the weather.......Thank you Hero Dave 🙂

David - you utter legend! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to make this brilliant and honest - and informative video. People like you make the world go around! We guessed your name was David - and we were right! Good Friday 2021 here and we’re about to start this mammoth task of setting this Paris spa up! We do have an outside hot tap but filling mostly with cold because we’re sure our tap is hotter than 40C and don’t want to damage the lining, heater/any of the parts etc. Wish us luck and thank you again so much!! Legend! WE LOVE DAVID!,

Hi Cinema Wow, thank you so much for your lovely comments it makes it so rewarding to hear how you felt :) thank you, you really put a smile on my face reading this today! If you do want to use your hot tap part fill with cold first and then mix keeping an eye on the temperature as you are right it could be too hot and damage the tub. Let us know how you get on with your spa. Sorry for the delay in replying but helping my parents move in into their new house which needs some work to get it going but will be worth it in the end. Kind regards and keep well David

@@BrenTeckITSupport Dave, yes, we 1/3 filled with cold then added the hot tap hose and like that, just kept an eye on the temp gauge. It got to about 28C or so pretty quickly and then started the steadily rise. It took just 2.5hrs to fill it using this method. We’ve used it several times since setting it up. It’s great. I’ll bet you were a godsend to your parents helping them move house! Everyone needs a helpful, friendly Dave like you in their lives. Keep making the videos! I’ll have to watch your ‘deflating/packing up’ the hot tub video as well.

Hi Milo, If you have the new one that has the frost protection system you can run it all year long and a hot tub in winter is meant to be even nicer than in summer. If you are running it all year I would also advise having a hut around it with extra insulation to keep running costs down and extend its life. As I have the older one we have to weigh till next year as well :( Enjoy and relax in the hot tub when you can. David

I fully insolated my tub boxed it in and sat it on 60mm insolation and mats.also wrapped the sides and bk in foil insolation. And before I pumped the lid up I used double sided tape an stuck more foil insolation on top of the inflatable bed.took 12 hrs to get from 4degrees to 40. And takes less than an HR to get from 34 to 40 .I also boxed in and insolated the control/ pump really helps with the noise and keep it warm.had it for a few weeks now love it . @BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, I keep the filter attached all the time and clean it out after every use. Hence I went for the two sponges as I can swap them around. Water only is pass through the filter when the circulate mode is on. It's the button immediately under the temperature controls. You can only heat the water when circulating the water. So, you can circulate / filter the water or heat and circulate . No heat only. I hope this answers your question. All the best and keep well. David

You are a saviour! I consider myself smart (ish) and have no trouble with flatpack furniture. However the information that comes with this spa is rubbish and a disgrace. Not clear on how to assemble and nothing on operation! The official videos miss out steps and ignore essential actions. You covered it all. Hi Antonio Thanks for your comment I really do appreciate it. Lots of people are saying the same thing. It's quite common now for companies to do poor instructions. Hint fill with hot water half way and then cold and hot halfway though cost affective and u can enjoy as soon as it full
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 7 ай бұрын
Hi Shazbarton, Yes you can fill it with hot water at the same time if you want. I would not start with hot water as you hot water may easily be much hotter than what the Lay-Z-Spa is designed for and may cause damage to the Spa or be two hot for the user causing burns. Some hot water systems will go up to 70-80-90 degrees cellulitis to kill bacteria in the system so be careful if you do this. So starting with the garden hose will help as you will then be heating cold water not cooling hot. Also as soon as the inlet is fully submerged I guess you could put on the pump and heater as well making sure the water level does not drop making it run dry! Hope you subscribed as I will be doing more Lay-Z-Spa videos. Kind regards Dave

@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 3 жыл бұрын
Hi K, LoL, I was just joking about this with my Dad after setting it back up. Yes, I do know why it's simple £££££. As long as the transformer is not going to get wet (the big box) it's only 12V after the transformer, not 240v so will not kill you. So you are meant to mount the transformer on the wall so it will not flood. The rest does not really matter. But a longer cable on both ends would have been nice. Kind regards and keep well David

The walls should be firm and rigid with only a small bit of give in them if you push down on the top of the sidewall. It can take the weight of my wife sitting on top of the sidewall to help here in and out. I am not recommending that someone sits on the sidewall but this shod give you an idea of how much air to put in. Don't worry too much about it, as if after you fill it you can remove the pump and add more air later. To remover the pump to reinflate without emptying the spa see kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHyXnqyMmNpmjas time stamp 3:08 Hope this helps. Kind regards and keep well David

Hi Janice, A good question. Our neighbors conservatory is just the other side of the fence they've never mentioned it being too loud to us. But we have great neighbors, and the whole area is respectful, polite and keeping general noise down to reasonable level so any unwanted annoying loud noise would be a distraction and obvious. So you shouldn't get any complaints unless you have an obnoxious neighbour. Thanks for watching and your comments, all the best and keep well. David

FYI I'm sure you've realised now one year on but the chem connect locks onto the hot water inlet that you removed the second black stopper from. It's not a chemical floater it will sink if you try and float it. Watching your video how come you didn't shock the water and carry out chemical checks before using ? Mine took roughly 48 hours to cycle after the shock dose of chlorine before I could use it

Hi Vlog, Yes, you are very right that it is not a floating dispenser it goes on the top screw for dosing the water after it comes out of the pump. I filled the tub with fresh tap water so I could just go straight in like a bath and I then just dosed it after and tested it the next day. Taking a shower before and after will help keep the tub and you cleen. Well spotted and thanks for pointing out where it goes. I did put it in the right place in the end but that obviously got omitted from the video. Thanks again and keep well David

Hi, thanks for your helpful video! Did your box come with a rubber washer seal? Once we'd filled ours we noticed it had a small leak between the hot tub and where you initially put the inflater tube, and nowhere did I see on any tutorial video's that this was needed! Thanks

Hi Stuart, If it did they were already fitted to the hose or socket which is why I did not show them. This year I did have a black sill fall out and I had to hut for it, as it leaked without it. It was a special shape to fit around the plastics so a standard washer did not work. I think this is the part you are talking about. www.lay-z-spa.co.uk/lay-z-spa-screw-valve-pack.html All sills should have come with it so if you are missing one take a photo of where the leak is and contact lay-z-spa customer support support.lay-z-spa.co.uk. Hi David, Thanks for your quick reply and detailed response! It’s actually next to where that valve you’ve posted is. It’s where you initially put the black inflater tube on on the pump, but once the pump lines up with the hot tub it’s actually the connection next to it. (The singular one, not the 2 on top of each other) It may just be that this rubber seal had fallen out which is why you did not notice it and therefore didn’t have to do anything upon set up

I have 2 to 4 Tablets broken up into smaller pieces and keep them in all the time in the water out cradle.(the upper on the two plastic screw on things on the side) If you want to use a floater as well you can if you need extra treatment. I run the pump all day if I am going to use the spa to get it up to temperature. I turn it off if I am not going to use it for a coupe of days. It all depends on how you want to use it. Just remember the more you use it the more chemicals you will need. Just keep an eye on the water condition using the test strips and adjust chemicals as needed. Hi Laura, Thanks for your comments great to hear from you. I did not mention really talk bout how to chemically treat the water as it will very on so many things but if you use it a day or two after it was filled then it should be clean tapwater so yes it will be fine but only for a day or two then the water will start to stagnate as in the UK tap water already has chlorine in it. We did a new video about the Milan kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKDaY36Xn5h5iMk where we showed the new Thermal Hot Tub Cover amzn.to/3jYFxeu as for cleaning and treating the water I use KAHEIGN Hot Tub Cleaning Kit amzn.to/3xPSKhJ Pro-Kleen Hot Tub & Spa Anti Foam amzn.to/3OwJtB2 ClearSpa Bromine Tablets 1kg amzn.to/3L64pg1 Clearwater Chemical Starter Kit amzn.to/3Lc2BSU use the test strips every so often as this will help you learn your spa water quality and treatment plan. If you feel the water is off definitely use the test strip as it could save you from a full drain down and refill just by adjusting the Ph and chlorine/bromine levels. Floating duck chlorine dispenseramzn.to/3Ml9GRl not it video as we got it after ;) I could do a video on how to treat the water thanks for the idea I will consider doing it. Hi Bigbird It may well have been in ours as well, I honestly can't remember now. But still between is not that helpful. All I know is if you fill it to the max and have two small to medium people in, it splashes over. Bear in mind it's designed for 4 to 6 according to the packaging. I feel the 4 is the comfortable max, with six is a very friendly party ;) So, a number of persons marking would be a nicer rough guide like ---- 6 people Min --- 3 people mind point ---- Max one person -----, in my opinion than just min-max. So the more people you plan to have in the spa the less water you have in it. Kind regards and keep well David

when you empty can you drain onto the garden or will the chemicals harm the plants ?
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol, The simple answer is yes it can damage the plans and grass so its best to get it down the drain using a hose. Is there a pond or river near buy as the chemicals can affect plants and animals there as well! The long answer is..... It should be safe as long as the levels of the chemicals are not high as the water in the hot tub should be at a reasonable level and if you are packing it up the levels shod be lower as you probably have not just put more chemicals into the water just to pack it away. If your water in the tub is green and smelling then it will probably be safe as the chemicals have been used up and no longer being effective. If there the water is crystal clear and a chemical smell then it will kill somtihg. No matter what don't empty in near your prised roses they probably won't like it. Also, you have to think about over waiting for some plants, as this will be a lot of water going in the ground at one point in one time. Please be careful and responsible for disposing of chemicals. Please see the two links for more information they do contradict each other a bit but both are correct. www.cobbittyturf.com.au/will-pool-water-kill-your-lawn/#:~:text=IF%20YOUR%20POOL%20IS%20CHLORINATED&text=However%20as%20the%20chemical%20is,pool%20should%20not%20kill%20it.&text=Undiluted%20chlorine%2C%20on%20the%20other,easily%20damage%20plants%20and%20grass. hottubownerhq.com/can-i-drain-my-hot-tub-on-my-lawn/#:~:text=Chlorine%20and%20bromine%20are%20both,it%20from%20ever%20growing%20back. Hi Rob, Looking at the reviews amzn.to/3ueuAdI someone is using this for there hot tub and a 1.25mm core can take a max of 13amps up to 3120 Watts so this should be fine. Please remember to uncoil any extension cord completely to prevent overheating and damage to the insulation and do not let the ends get near any water. If I could find a thicker 1.5 or 2mm core extension that was rated for 16amps I would go for that but can't find any. If in any dought please speak to a qualified electrician. great video. i have this hot tub. i just fill it up with hot water when i want to use it. unfortunately, i don't have a proper outdoor plug. i have a summer house which is powered from a heavy-duty extension, i don't have any problems with any electrical items in the summerhouse eg oil filled heater, and a TV. I have used the pump to keep the water warm a few times ( not if the TV or heater is on. ) not had any issues with it. However, after watching your video i checked the online hot tub safety page and It says on their that the pump will work off a 13amp. but it also says not to use from an extension. I'm guessing this also means a heavy-duty extension.... I have an RDC inside the house, will this trip if i use the heater if there's a problem. Safety tips off the webpage Our hot tubs run on a UK standard 13amp/240V electrical supply. You should always use a grounded socket with RCD protection. All of our pumps come with a built-in RCD unit as a safety measure. The socket that the hot tub is being plugged in to should be grounded and at least 4 metres away, at a height of at least 1.2m from the ground. We recommend getting a qualified electrician to install a grounded outdoor waterproof socket with RCD protection (this should always be done by a qualified electrician).
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ritchie, The reason they say do not use an extension is most use a thin cable and so will have too much electrical resistance and heat up and melt the extension cable which could start a fire. Also, make sure the flex is fully uncoiled first to prevent overheating as well. Someone heavy-duty extension cables start that they are suitable for a 3kw fire. If so that should be OK. As long as it plugged into the ring main and not a spur socket for the same reasons. If your setup is an outdoor reinforced cable straight from the ring or consumer unit (fuse box) and you only use the spa or the fire one at a time not both together it should be fine. If in doubt always ask a professional electrician to inspect it. If a professional installed the cable you may well be able to use both at once, again seek professional advice. A ring main is normal 2.5mm solid core X 2 to make the ring, one in one out. An electrical shower extension is normally 6mm or 10mm core but can be up to 16mm. I hope this helps Kind regards and keep well David

If in any dought contact a professional electrician who will be able to advise you. Some of the rules and installations can get very tricky. @@hackettdavid Hi Kackttdavid Yes, it's probabley a 13amp fuse in a 13amp plug I have not checked mine yeat as if could even be a 10amp as I use www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/watt-volt-amp-calculator.html and so it could draw only 8amps but that sownds a bit low to me. Where do I say it's 16amp so I can try and update it. The fuse is to protect the flex, not you or the device just the cable from the plug. Thanks for your coments, kind regards and keep well David

Just setting this up, the lights are a nightmare! I can't get the led strip up the right way it keeps going back onto it's side. Also the 2021 model did not come with a bubble underlay. Less than impressed with the instructions, thankfully I have your excellent video!

Hi Alex, Yes, yes they are but keep trying it's worth it in the end and will help to prevent them from damage. Do it slowly and work your way around. You might find it easier when up the right way with a small amount of water in to help hold them down a bit of weight not to force them flat as that could damage the PCB table. I hope this helps. Kind regards, good luck with he LEDs and keep well David

@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, I get your confusion, their website leads you to believe that the whole 2021 range has WiFi but it would appear not every one has it. It could be a labeling issue or price point management. I suspect it's the latter as others have said that there new 2021 did not come with WiFi. The one we have is an older model so does not have WiFi. All I can recommend is reed the product dimensions carefully and if there is any doubt contact the supply before and perches. I hope this helps, kind regards and keep well David

A full day to two days to heat up? Takes few hours with lid on bud lol
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Derek, It all depends on the temperature of the water going in the first place. But I found it heats up about 1-2 degrees per houre with the lid on. The new 2021 models apparently have a rapid heat system (this could be marketing as if found little about it) and Freeze Shield as well so looks like they are improving the pumps all the time some even come with WiFi. @BrenTeckITSupport 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, Putting it in a shed would definitely help keep it warm and the wind out. Only thing is it may be more noisy and you would lose the view of the sky and garden. I would cover the walls in soft fluffy fabric like towels to absorb some of the sound. Also think of ventilation so condensation does not build up on the inside. Let us know how you get on, kind regards and keep well David

My lay-z- spa cover keeps deflating, has any one else had this problem.
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ecogreen, Our one is fine, both the tub and lid. Both will deflate slowly over time and need to be reinflated but only once every couple of mounts. If you are needing to do it more then once a mount you may have a faulty valve or a small hole somewhere. Take the air bladder out of the cover, give it a good clean and look for leaks. I would put a bit of it in the hot tub and rotate till I see any doubles. Or you could spray it with soppy water an see were bubbles form. Once you find the leek use a repair patch and cover the hole. I have a feeling the lay-z-spa came with a Vinyl Repair Kit for Hot Tubs. I can not find mine now so I could be wrong. You can get one form here amzn.to/3irB692 I hope this helps, wish you all the best and keep well David

You left the cable coiled when blowing the tub up. Daft idea especially with that amp amount.
@BrenTeckITSupport
@BrenTeckITSupport 4 жыл бұрын
Hi James, Very sharp eyes and you have and a good point. You must fully uncoil any lead when using a device especially extensions leads to prevent overheating. In this instance I was only using the air pump which has a very low power usage so is not a problem at this time and it's outside on the cold bricks so will not overheat. When using the heater yes, yes you should uncoil the flex fully to prevent the cable from overheating. When working on AV cables again always uncoil them, not only to prevent overheating but to prevent interference so you get a cleaner signal. All the best and keep well. David

@@ritchierich9407 faradays law of induction. Coiled cable at higher amp = heat generation. Long periods of time, like a hot tub on in direct sun can be dangerous. Although video creator is correct, less of a issue with a draft and cold concrete. But live by the rules and you'll live longer 👍

Hi Ciarans, Thanks for your comments but please elaborate. What takes too long in your opinion? If you are referring to how long it takes to fill this will depend on the water pressure so will vary from house to house. Heating the water hot water as you fill with cold, this could also fill the tub quicker. I hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting. Wish you all the best and keep well. David
