Thanks for this video series, I have been really enjoying them and as a beginner you definitely outline every action clearly and with justifications, which is very much appreciated. I'd like to understand this layering phase more fully. It seems to me as a complete layman that what you do in this layering phase is already accomplished by the adding the overbrush and drybrushing and then applying contrast over the top - you get the light and dark elements and the colour changes based on the the grey tone beneath. For this layering phase it just seems like youre undoing all that initial work by painting over it? Accentuating your highlights afterwards I understand, because the edges can pop even more, but this stage seems, not exactly redundant but maybe it makes the contrast stage unnecessary because if you're just going to end up painting over it, you could have used the greyscale version as the 'map' and added this stage as your first colour. Is it just for enhanced saturation? If so, why not just do a second layer of contrast paint to add another hue or deepen the colour? Thank you again for all this hard work and keep it up, it's very inspiring!

It would be cool if you added a comparison of the mini before and after layering to see more clearly the improvent. Also for the edge highlighting video a before and after would be awesome.

Noted! I'll try to fit that in the next video, if not then future videos will!!!

I really like your style of painting. I'm gonna check out your other videos to see how you got to this point. I have a hard time with layering and understanding where and how to apply layers so this was great instruction. Keep up the great work!

Awesome video and congrats on the subscribers! I struggle with blending the layers in. It seems i cant get the consistency correct. Also when trying to highlight thin lines. The paint dries out on the brush too fast.

Thanks so much! It can take some practice, especially when it comes to thinning paint. My next video specifically covers highlighting so hopefully that will help some more. Keep at it!!! :D

I like your Video series, very good quality and the best is your explanation and the lengh of the video. If your read this can you make a video painting a miniature with Citadel Base paints without using contrast paints? Because I'm painting with Base colors and I think with some of your tips and explanation can help me to grown more up. Keep your good work, hope for my content. Abo + like for you =)

Thank you for watching, commenting, and the great feedback! I am planning to keep the format similar for my future videos. Yes, I have a few videos planned that will cover the more "tradtional" method of painting using basecoating & layering!

This video seems to be more about glazing and filtering, rather than layering. To me, layering means using more opaque layers. Your techniques are great, and the miniature is coming out really well. Regarding the video quality, I think you notice the "distractions" more than us viewers. There's no need to apologize for anything you have produced.
@thepaintbeast5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback mate! I really appreciate it! :) One point was to emphasize that layering isn't only opaque layers but I agree with you, I ended up using more glazing than I aimed for in this one. I especially agree with the point about me distracting myself. Being on camera isn't natural to me yet and I've found it difficult to open myself up on this KZbin journey. Reflecting on the apologies, i'll defo be reigning that in and maybe edit some out for future vids until i'm more experienced. Again, really appreciate the feedback. Hope that you watch the next one and provide more insight. I'm finding comments like this to be helpful :D

@@thepaintbeast I will definitely continue watching. I enjoy your videos. I am glad you read my comment positively, I certainly don't have any complaints. Even KZbinrs like Uncle Atom (Tabletop Minions) have the occasional interruption in their videos. You will be an "old hand" at this before you know it. ;)
