Nice video, I don’t know who made your Chinese subtitle but it would be better if you could hire a Taiwanese for your subtitle. Your translator used too many terms from China. For example avocado we call it 酪梨 not 鱷梨 and mayo is 美奶滋 not 蛋黃醬. A bit disturbing. Anyways hope this will help to expand your audience in Taiwan :)
@LayersOfJenn3 жыл бұрын
Actually the person who subtitles my videos is from southern Taiwan but has lived abroad for a long time in 🇨🇦 which is why maybe their vocab is different from what is normally used here. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed the video and my take on Keelung :)

Kwan Yin (goddess of mercy) is my girl! I thought maybe the multiple armed goddess in the mountain temple was a version of her as Avalokiteshvara (an androgynous Deity) who she started out as, but could be wrong after reading online it might be Tara. Halifax has those loading docks here now too, there is a bunch of the cranes by Point Pleasant Park and in The Bedford Basin in Fairview cove so it really does look even more like there now. Downtown has changed a lot over the past few years , and the city just keeps spreading out further and further in all directions , you’d be surprised I think. Out this way it’s not so bad so far, the road isn’t wide enough to handle traffic and houses are right up to the road so they can’t widen it much. There are a few subdivisions sneaking in though, it won’t be long. Looks like you had a blast👍🏻. Much more fun to go explore with new friends is better than alone . 🙋🏼 It was a really cheap trip.

nice visit, my wife and I stopped by Keelung in 2018, we stayed at a little hotel I think it was East Coast Hotel, it was over near the cruise ship docking, but I had checked out several small hotels in the area online prior to the trip since we traveled without reservations, and just walked up to the front desk each time to ask for a room. The perception of "expensive" versus not, is simply proportional to how much money is in your pocket at the time.I do enjoy visiting Taiwan now, with a better budget and not needing to look for or chase down the absolute best deal or least expensive paths. Travel can be accomplished on many levels of budgets, so hopefully all of your viewers will get out there and travel at times.

This is the city my father grew up and you were lucky not meeting any rain during your trip. Keelung is the most rainy city in Taiwan (200+ raining days per year). If you plan to visit again, I would recommend to combine the trip to Jiufen (九份) and Badouzi (八斗子) where you can find a interesting Badouzi Train Station, the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, and the beautiful seaside parks (There are two of them, one is on a hill and need to climb a bit called 忘憂谷, the other is right by the Musume called 潮境公園). Or you may want to book a boat trip to the Keelung Islet which just opens to public visit in recent years.

The "Keelung" sign is a step above the "Hollywood" sign, which hasn't been light since the 2000 New Years Eve celebration, and that was only for that one night! Prior to that, the "Hollywood" sign hadn't been lit since the 1940's.
@LayersOfJenn3 жыл бұрын
Ohhh I had no idea lol. I thought it was cool we could walk up to the Keelung sign and not be fined ! Because in my head if you to go to close to the Hollywood sign… Aren’t you fined!? 🤔
@EnigmaDave3 жыл бұрын
@@LayersOfJenn The area around the sign has a chain-link fence. You'd technically be trespassing, but the odds of being fined would be rather low unless you actually altered, defaced or damaged the sign. People have altered it to read "Hollyweed", "hollyweird", and "caltech" in the past. There are many hiking trails in the hills around that area, On a clear day, the view of downtown LA and the ocean is pretty special. When first put up, the sign read "Hollywoodland" and was intended to be an advertisement for a housing development just below where the sign is located.

Thanks, I had been to Xian Dong Yan back in 1998 I think and was wondering the name of the place. Thanks to you, I now know (remember). The trip was reasonable, as you said, I'm sure that it could have been a little cheaper, but the time you saved might have saved you another night's hotel room. Thanks for the video (from Ottawa).

This definitely is an affordable trip for sure. The places you went to should be guided by locals or who are familiar with the area. This is more like an in-depth city tour that different from just going to eat at Keelung night market.

Hopefully the more in-depth city tour was still okay to watch :D

Welcome to Keelung! The Greater Keelung area is the best place in Taiwan, no doubt.

When I'm out walking on certain islands, I always seem to see vehicle-carrying vessels leaving Hong Kong on their way to Keelung. The vessels are very distinctive, probably what draws my attention them.
