God heroin literally destroyed this wonderful man. What a voice he had, what a band

So true, and so heartbreaking. If only one of his so called friends would have just forced there way in and forced him to let them be there, it all could have been different. Poor guy

It's true that heroin did destroy him, but without it most of the songs we love and listen to wouldn't exist either. Such is the double edged sword of drugs...

@@lindseybethea6979 That is literally not true. And way to dismiss his talent and genius. And even if that was true, I'd take him being alive over a few songs.

@@lindseybethea6979 Layne said in an interview that he never created a song while in the influence of drugs. Also, anyone would prefer to have him alive than have all his songs.

I know, I played that ending like six times “Hello. is this thing on? This is Layne from Alice in chains and you’re watching more of this!!” 😂 Met him several times, the first time I was 13 and after I met him the first time I was in love with this sweet guy who was happy to sign for you, during the VH tour, I tricked my parents that I was big into VH with them, but I wanted to see AIC! He made you laugh with the “Layne laugh” and definitely had that smile that reached those big blue eyes with that twinkle! Just being around that band felt electric⛓⛓⛓⛓

This hurts. He’s so alive and warm and friendly and unassuming…and there are so many alive because of his words…it’s a tragedy his lyrics served so many but not himself. I have to wonder what were the words he needed to hear…do they exist?💔

I’ve never heard a single bad story from people who worked with him, he has always been described to me as “so, so sweet, so mischievous like a little boy, but willing to make a fool of himself to get a laugh out of everyone, but so sweet that if he knew your favorite snacks, foods, he’d remember and show up, he was big on hugs, he had no ego, but the guy was a sweetheart who in the end, we all just wanted to bust down the living tomb he’d become a recluse in, grab him, pull him out and save him, he never would have left any of us go the way he did, but he physically and emotionally built up so many walls, death did not come easily for him, he was a living rotting, miserable corpse for 6 years in so much physical and emotional pain, we all tried and maybe we should have tried harder, but he’s one of those loving friends that can give so much love but never knew how to accept it back.” 😢
