Another great video TR and the expansion you're doing is looking nice! Having it built around the circumference of a room is really neat and definitely creates more switching opportunities. I like how you painted the edges and legs that black color and matches you track! Thanks again for sharing your videos along with your time and effort to get the best footage! Keep up the great work keep the videos coming!

Something I’ve discovered when painting track, is if you clean the tops of the rails with a paper towel right after paint, it’s so much easier. Nice update!

I would put screws farther apart and away from the joints in your connecting brackets on the joined table sections. Add screws?

Loving it man. Again, I’m not complaining, but you should try and figure out something to do about that track being so close to the edge on that inside curve. It’s a long way to the floor and I’ve found out the hard way about having track close to the edge of the layout.
@TopRailroad2 жыл бұрын
No worries! I agree I’ll definitely be putting a corner piece to make sure that don’t happen. I appreciate the feedback

@michaelappleyard85992 жыл бұрын
I just started watching this set of videos, and I am loving the content! You do a very good job of explaining your methods! I do have one question: how did you handle the transition from the "original" section to the cork roadbed of the new section? I'm not understanding how you addressed the difference in elevation between the track laid on the cork roadbed and the track laid on the foamboard of the original section. I'm guessing that at scale that's an elevation difference of somewhere around a foot. How did you handle this? Thanks!
@TopRailroad2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! And yeah I can’t remember but I don’t think I explained it at all haha. But back then I didn’t do it properly cause like you said it was a dramatic change in elevation for the trains. My suggestion if I were to do it now is to sand the cork road bed down at a gradual slope or use those foam woodland Scenics risers they have
@manshedrailroad2 жыл бұрын
Adding that black paint was like putting on a bow tie. Very nice... How did you transition from the foam to the cork road bed? Did you bevel it?
@TopRailroad2 жыл бұрын
The HO scale roadbed actually comes beveled already thankfully. Sometimes you do need to sand away some access to make the bevel smoother though
@allanmartinez11909 ай бұрын
Hello Sir, I'm loving the series you're doing I'm also trying to get a understanding about some of the things you do in the videos. For example when you buy some code 100 track I noticed that you still paint the track black even if the track already comes with black ties. Why do you still paint the track black? I'm just trying to understand the reason behind it that's all. Keep up the great work you do I can only imagine how much better your Layout is progressing along. Thank you for your time Sincerely Allan
@TopRailroad9 ай бұрын
Thank you! And the reason is because I want the sides of the rails to be that dark brown to make them look more realistic. If you don’t paint them they have that nickel silver shine which isn’t bad by no means but just doesn’t look as realistic since real life rails are completely rusted on the sides
@allanmartinez11909 ай бұрын
I understand now that makes a lot of sense thank you.

Can you please do and explain operations on your layout? That is one of the hardest things in this hobby for me, i' trying to do a layout with industries that export and industries that receive materials great job, thanks!
@TopRailroad2 жыл бұрын
I’ll do one when I’m closer to getting the track complete since I don’t know exactly where to put everything yet. You should look up SoCal Scale Models here on KZbin cause he does switching operations a lot so you can model your layout after his or take some of his ideas for industries and such 😁 Hope this helps!
