My flatmate puts onions in the fridge because she was taught growing up that they stay fresh that way. Not only is this completely untrue, but onions will actually go off faster in the fridge than in a cupboard. And yet, despite being faced with mouldy onions whenever she goes away for a few days, she continues to do it. Bizarre.

I feel the same about the first HP movie! And about Mean Girls. The way I see it is that if a film follows its characters through the Christmas season and Christmas makes a big appearance, even if it isn't a Christmas movie, then it naturally fits in that group of "not Christmas Christmas movies." Hagrid dragging the massive Christmas tree in the snow, Harry being overwhelmed by the fact that he's got presents for the first time, Mrs. Weasley knitting Harry his own sweater as a gift - such pivotal moments in the film that make it seem more Christmassy than not. For Mean Girls, so much of Janice's plan revolves around the Christmas performance, so same goes for that movie too! Just my little two cents about the phenomenon of certain not Christmas Christmas movies. (and about butter, my mum uses either a bit of parchment paper or the butter wrapper - I just use my fingers!)

True to all norwegians (well most at least) we have to watch "Tři oříšky pro Popelku" (Three Gifts for Cinderella) which is a Czechoslovak/East German fairy-tale film from 1973. The movie is dubbed to norwegian where one actor has all the voices, and is probably one of the weirdest Christmas traditions we have. We also have "Dinner for one" from 1963 on the night before christmas, even though the plot is set to new years eve. Of "normal" movies you do have the BBC series "The Chronicles of Narnia" from 1988 that makes me go right into christmas mood. And "Die Hard".

For my family it's Princess Bride since we always end up watching it near the holidays! (Also I think it's so cute that you're doing daily walks with your mum since my mom and I have started doing workouts every day of my winter break as well :)

The Wizard of Oz! As a kid I’d always circle it in the Radio Times and eagerly await it. Even now, the scene where Dorothy opens the door and the film turns from black and white to colour takes my breath away - so magical plus there are all those iconic songs to sing along to x x ps love the rustic mince pies, save one for Santa...

Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban! I think it’s something to do with them throwing snowballs and Malfoy,Crabbe and Goyle. That and the snow scenes that makes me feel so Christmassy!😂❤️
