@@zacharyb.5841 The Superbone was an instrument invented by Maynard Ferguson and the Holton instrument company as a means of allowing Maynard to use the trombone slide effects whilst having the action of a euphonium, which he doubled on. It's featured on his album "Chameleon" on the song "Superbone Meets the Badman", which also features Bruce "Badman" Johnstone on bari sax. The Holton Company also made a trumpet version that Maynard used on the "Conquistador" album called the MF Firebird, or Firebird for short.

Mr. Daegan For people looking for the specific instrument: quid ma cotto model QSB-333SG. Apparently some Project Euphonium product. The model is QSB-333 and SG stands for silver and gold. It was also available with L laquer finish, S silver finish, and SL satin laquer finish. It has been cited as discontinued due to poor quality. For a silver finish, this horn sounded extraordinarily bright. Might be fake silver plating? This costed him about $1200. Here is the link to the actual listing: www.euphonium.biz/slide-and-valve-trombone-superbone This is not a Holton TR-395!!!! Or any of the other superbones u can find on ebay or amazon....

@NotSkilledHere4 жыл бұрын
@@a0zuniverse the Holton TR-395 is by far teh best. also is the original that was made for Maynard Ferguson who requested/developed it. you will have to buy used. i would recommend against any ebay or amazon varians you find. Schagerl makes a different kind of superbone if you want to look at it, but it's really expensive

its not that shocking tbh theres a "trumpet" with a slide though im pretty sure its a soprano trombone. though this dude has a slide and valves tf

Yes, they exist. My school even has one, but they never use it. Except this one's special because it has both a slide and valves, whereas others either have one or the other.

@@zacharyb.5841 rly? i know someone with a valve trombone in B flat
I really would’ve liked to see you do more of a mix between the two systems. The valved side has a very different sound to it, but I think there’s a way to use them intermixedly to create a unique sound. Specifically to add like super clean grace notes and groupetti that has a different sound than on a normal slide. You did this a bit at the end, but using the valves in a way that is in conjunction with slide positions. Using them to get cleaner legato than you would on a normal bone.

When he plays it on slide it basically shows how unneeded the vales are except for when he does the trills at the end, which are better to learn as lip trills

I feel like it's not needed but it's extremely helpful, especially since before this trombones couldn't play extremely fast passages until now. Plus playing different notes while moving the slide is dope
