Matt, there is a mod which adds proper synergies to Spirit Sword with vanilla items. There's also a "range fix" which makes the swing of spirit sword and the Forgotten's bone club increase in size with range instead of disconnecting from Isaac.

20:40 I've always viewed the ascent not as a memory or as the true final ending, but as the good in Isaac's ending, the additional perspective that not everything has been a miserable nightmare. Delirium is the true final ending, this is a fact, in his final moments he is experiencing Delirium and it is miserable. But before that he sees all the other visions, and the last moments before his mind and body succumb to Delirium are spent happily. Remembering all of the good times spent with his father, the fun they had together describing fantastical adventures and the times when his family were happy together. There is no "good" ending for Isaac, but at very least there is a happy one.

I've always been of the mind that the entirety of The Binding of Isaac, the "Basement," is purgatory, in a way. Isaac refuses to "forgive" himself. He doesn't believe he's worthy of going to heaven, he doesn't believe he belongs there. But he isn't as evil as he thinks he is, and thus he can't really go to hell either. And thus, he's stuck here. Replaying everything and trying to come to terms with himself within himself. To me, that's *why* the Beast ending is the finale; it's Isaac finally learning to forgive himself, and let go of his worries from his life, and move on. Obviously, Isaac's dad isn't actually there, isn't actually speaking to him. It's just how Isaac copes.

20:31 okay so this is a bit of a weird thing I just thought of, but I think in Dante's inferno, the final ring of hell sorta looks like that with the trees, and it's reserved for people who commit suicide and whatnot ('cause, y'know, they get turned into trees I guess) (learned that from ultrakill lore videos, btw, which is neat). We know from I think the mega Satan ending that Isaac died from asphyxiation by staying in the chest... Maybe that counts as a form of suicide? I still got no idea what I'm talking about since I haven't played TBoI nor ultrakill, but if they're both referring to Dante's inferno (btw, I haven't read that either. Maybe I should some day) then maybe Isaac just accidentally killed himself and is now in hell. Just a theory, but it seems nifty, and I am open to criticism if I'm wrong. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Edit: maybe I shoulda read ahead a bit more in the video. So Isaac 2 is gonna take place in purgatory? If that's so then my theory crafting just went up in flames lol.

The beast ending isn't supposed to be a flash back, it is more like a dream as it's just supposed to be this thing where people can get a happy ending to isaac but delirium is the absolute ending as Edmund has stated In his own words, as best as i can remember them, "if they want a happy ending, let them"

There's a mod called more sword synergies (i think) that do exactly that There's also a skin mod that changes the sword sprites depending on the character, and i really like Cain's because it's straight up a keyblade

Limbo. Isaac is in Limbo, not purgatory ;) It is why you can keep doing runs with different characters over and over and over again. Although that is not the only reason that it popped into my head. The white void with the dead trees is often a representation of Limbo, whereas purgatory is often depicted with a river of flames :D
