Elon Musk has 'split apart' British politics | James O'Brien on LBC

James O’Brien has excoriated the state of British politics, following Elon Musk’s inflammatory attacks on Labour ministers regarding historic child sexual abuse cases.
“What matters is that British politics has now been split apart in a way I can't remember seeing, by this far right foreign conspiracy theorist who happens to be the richest man in the world,” O’Brien said.
“It has been split apart in a way I can't quite conceive of.”
In a series of posts on Twitter in recent days, Musk has attacked Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and Sir Keir Starmer over what he alleges - without evidence - they were “complicit” in failing to combat mass rapes of young women and girls.
Musk's intervention has resurfaced the findings of a series of inquiries into child sexual abuse across England and Wales involving at least 1,400 victims.
Musk has also come under significant criticism for his attacks on Labour’s Jess Philipps, Secretary of State for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls, claiming she was a “rape genocide apologist”.
While Musk’s comments have been roundly criticised in the UK and abroad, O’Brien told listeners that he expected more from the British opposition.
“I don't understand what's happened to the Conservative Party, when now is the time for national unity,” O’Brien said.
“British parliamentary sovereignty… demands that an attack by a foreign conspiracy theorist upon our politicians be condemned... And it hasn't been.”

Incorrect Jay Report was not an inquiry on GGs, it was deliberately widened so that it became only one of 15 themes. The lack of data reporting from authorities on ethnicity of perpetrators which should have been recorded as a matter of course and which in any other country would be a disgrace was not covered. The fact that the Jay Report was a 7 year farce under the Tories is all the more reason that Labour should have promised an inquiry and outflanked the Tories.

The Tory spin machine under BadEnoch stated that they had "accepted" 80% of the recommendations of the Jay report - but they did _Sweet FA for years_ about implementing the recommendations. And BadEnoch spouts from the opposition front bench that Labour are dragging their feet over this! Starmer, meanwhile, tries to get the Tories to support the very Bill that addresses the Jay report but the Tories want to drag _their_ feet even longer! It's not just hypocrisy from the Tories, it's blatant far right-wing sloganeering to appease the likes of Elmo and Trump. The victims are utterly unimportant to the Tories, it's their jobs, their lobbying monies, their foreign donations (including from Russia) that are vital.

The billionaires won completely in the US. Britain is just following suit. Labour has been running as Tory Light since Blair, the way the Democrats in the US have run as GOP light in the US. They both adopted right of center economic policies while embracing left of center social policies...the right railed against the social policies, and both Labour and the Democrats ignored the working class (in the US blue collar) voters while cozying up to Banking. The college educated middle class is now feeling the squeeze in both countries and young people are just fed up with a system where they cant afford homes, cant afford the lifestyle their parents had....and the rich keep getting richer. But Corbyn was branded a socialist and demonized, neither dems or labour made any effort to go after the bankers after the 2007-2008 financial meltdown...ended up bailing out the exact people who caused it and the rest of us got to pay for it. I dont see anything changing. The right wing has got its claws into the working class, billionaires are pumping money into disinformation. We are all going to be serfs again.
