Stick the little tag into the bottom of the handle. That is what locks it from moving. :). You have it backwards.

You can stick the little tab into the crevice of the handle so it doesn't move ;)

The conversion kit kept sliding up when I carried the pouch no matter how I positioned it, so I just took it to a shoe cobbler and had matching grommets put into the sides. Now it’s one of my most used bags- easily fits passport, cardholder, phone, and earbuds.

Yes it has a little poke that goes inside the strap. Mine has it but didn’t see if the one you bought has it. Anyway if you are going to return it for a silver hardware just check if it has it.

I’ve been wanting a conversion kit too for my longchamp. Hope you were able to fix your strap, cuz the little nub on the button closure should fit into the groove of the handle. If i get one, i might do the grommet as others have stated. Thanks again for sharing Lauren!!! And your links!
