This song will always have special meaning to me. This is the song that my husband was listening to Jan 30, 2012 when he passed away. He loved Darren so much. His passing was peaceful thanks to this man and I will always be grateful to Darren for that.
We had met Darren the day before this performance at a private meet and greet and met with him again after this performance. My husband talked about those meetings till the day he died. Darren is a very special man. I was able to share this story with him Aug 11, 2012 at this year's LeakyCon in Chicago. Fan for life. Less than three, Darren! Rest in peace, Jim.

Darren's home is with Starkid. It is so obvious that, although he loves Glee and his castmates, he will always love Starkid and fit in best there. He can be himself there. However, wherever Darren is happy, then I am happy because I love him and his song. Everytime I get sad, I listen to this and know I will always fit in with the Starkid fandom, and I feel happy.

Darren is the sweetest, most humble man I have ever met. He is truly grateful for each and every fan. He told me he wouldn't be where he is without all of us and he doesn't forget it for one single second. My husband and I had private meet and greets with him 7/15 and 7/16 at LeakyCon 2011, Oh, and he gives awesome hugs, by the way! I less than three this man, big time! My home is the one place where I can be with my real friends in multiple fandoms. Starkid and Darren is the fandom that makes me smile wherever I go. I'm the oddball at my school and family--when I'm with my favorite characters or listening to music, reading, etc. I feel like that is my home. Darren and Starkid are members of my big family that no one knows about.

I always laughed at people who talk about famous people as though they know them. But watching Darren go from Little white lie and AVPM to glee and seeing where he is now is amazing. This made me so sad... I used to have a home with the HP fandom, but... I don't know... me and my HP friends kind of drifted apart, and I just really miss that feeling... the feeling of having a home, no matter where you are... This is so beautiful. After all the success he's had, for him to sing with so much emotion about his starkid "home" just goes to show what a family they are. What a family we all are, really. When you see his Glee fans drool over him and ship him with Chris, that's fine and all, but I just can't help but think that they dont understand him. But to see his friends hug him and the joy he gets from preforming with them... well, that's the real Darren right there, not just the hot holiwood persona.

Hello Mardie, A few months ago I posted a comment on this video about not "having a home" and this song always making me cry. Well, it still makes me cry, but for a different reason: in the past few months things have gotten so much better. For the first time in the 2 1/2 years I've lived in my current town, I feel like I have true friends here and people that care about me. Now, they may have no clue who Starkid is ;) but it is a great feeling to finally know I "have a home" here. Just wanted to tell you. Thank you so much for your encouragement and for posting this video.

I am SO GLAD to hear things are going better for you! I know how it is to struggle and feel like no one cares or notices. I am coming up on the 2 year anniversary of my husband's death on Jan 30th. If not for this loving, caring man (DARREN), I don't know that I would be coping as well as I am. When I saw him June 14 at his Cleveland concert, he asked how I was coping since Jim's death. Remembered my name, remembered my husband's...and cared enough to ask how I was doing. And of course, his hugs were awesome! I believe in DARRENDIPITY and CRISSMET...that man has helped a tremendous number of people to cope with the bad things in their lives. We will always have a home in the circle of his love.

For some reason, this performance of "To Have a Home just really got to me (alot of us were teary-eyed), I felt it, and I just said it. My mouth/brain filter was turned off. I don't know whether it's becuase he's on Glee and getting professional help with his singing or just his voice maturing, but it he does seem to have a much stronger voice compared to most video's I've seen of his (Which is a lot!). I love how emotional he gets as well, it's good to see that the fame hasn't gone to his head and he knows his roots and will never forget them. This is why he is my favourite performer (And yes, I'm a lad!). Absolutely fantastic performance.
