Have you ridden the fse450r? And if you have, choosing only one bike. What's better for a play wheelie around town, mild 2track. My back and legs are bad but I want to ride some more before THE CHAIR! So weak legs and a heavy bike are a bad mix. The magic button is ALMOST a necessity. I could probably kick the tse several times before I couldn't do it anymore. But if these new 450's are like my old xr500r there's no way I'd get it running...lol being disabled since sep.03 from a work injury and on a VERY fixed income this dream bike will be my last toy and I'll want to be able to hand it down when I get retired so to speak...I love watching your video's and appreciate your hard work editing and stuff. I'm ALMOST 50yrs old and selling all my old toys to fund this purchace because I can't work on stuff anymore, I tried to change spark plugs on my suburban and couldn't even do 1 before the pain became unbearable. So this bike MUST be reliable, that's one thing about the tse is that engine is as reliable as a wood stove. They just keep going, and I'm disappointed if the got rid of the yamalube system. I know premixing is better and more reliable but I had a rd400 and many rz350's all oil injected and ran great untill I would go crazy making more hp's..lol sorry for writing a book....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
@LCARSADV3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm you have quite the specs there lol Nice to see that you want some more 2 wheel action. So I think the TSE would be your bet, it's just a fun bike to ride! It's light, e start and kick, and that 2 stroke zip is just plain fun! With a simple gearing change you can make it power wheelie a lot easier or for more low end. Now the only concern I have is you not being able to wrench. GPX are super reliable yes, but they do require setup. You may have to rip the carb off several times to rejet. Tighten and locktite bolts and put it together from the crate. If you wanted turn-key fun, buy it from a dealer or look into a Beta x-trainer.

Between the TSE and the FSE300 and 450, which would you suggest to someone who lives out West? I want to be able to ride open desert, Moab, woods, tight single track, mild enduro.... I’d like to be able to ride the woods in the Pacific North West and also ride the 2-3 day Los Angeles to Las Vegas offroad ride. I’m 5’8” at 195lbs athletic in my late 20s. Ride 100% offroad, no pavement. No sand dunes. Plan to dual sport plate it to spite the liberal tree huggers. Thanks for the help. Love the GPX content.
@LCARSADV3 жыл бұрын
Honestly any of the 3 could do it, and do it well. I think the TSE would probably check the more technical type boxes and is the better bike for that. But you have to take into consideration the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke factor. if you are going to cover a lot of ground and need more fuel range, you may want to go 4 stroke and I think if I lived out west and I have ridden out west, I would probably hit the 450, but in seriously tight woods I would do the TSE or 300. I don't think here in the east coast tight woods and clay I would want the 450 for off road only, but out west in utah deserts, heck yeah!

Coming from carborated XRs and YZF, the Delphi EFI sounds great.. that said, I do want to own a 2 stroke at some point in my life. At the rev range I see you riding your TSE, how frequently do you expect to need top and bottom end rebuilds? I don’t rev the hell out of my vehicles so I just wonder how long I could get out of a TSE. I know with Japanese and euro 2 stroke enduros, the top end is about every year to 100hrs.

@@LCARSADV I think the best 1 bike for the west is the 300 and the best 2 bike combo is the TSE and 450. Is the sole reason you deleted your oil injection on the TSE that you don’t trust the pump? Or is it that you prefer to vary your oil ratios at will?

You talk about it wanting to be 'in the powerband' revved up, then it's got linear power, and then good in tight technical, won't stall at low rpm, then linear... ? ''being in the power band means nothing, the power band is 0 12k rpm or wherever the redline is.. You may have said it likes to be on the pipe, which everyone gets; high rpm.. I'm going to guess that the essence of what you're attempting to convey is in the statement you made; ''Linear power'' , but as noted, I kind of got lost in all your other opposing terms. This looks to be an awesome bike, would love to see a Dyno Chart, and get the actual weight, you said handles like a mtn bike which is cool but so far the only weight I can find is 260lbs, yikes, one heavy mtn bike. Have you weighed the bike, can easily do this on a bathroom scale.. Cheers and enjoy the bike!
@LCARSADV2 жыл бұрын
When I say linear I mean controllable throughout the rev range where it won't buck you off the seat like a crazy horse. When I say happy in powerband, I mean exactly that, it's a 2 stroke and it likes to be reved and it has a spot in the powerband where's its most alive. Not sure if that makes sense? It's a great engine though. Yeah it's a bit heavier than a KTM I guess, but it's also not 11k dollars either. It feels light enough to me and I was coming from a DRZ which makes anything feel lighter. The TSE rides light and carries the weight well. Thanks man!
