My father was a plank owner on the LCS(L)(3)-24... She picked up 42 survivors of the USS Bush at Okinawa on 6 April 45 and was hit by a kamikaze while protecting the USS Sterrett on 9 April 45...

Very nice film.Imake militar on Italian navy from 1969 to 1970.i was a crew member ,as sergent bosum,on ex lcssl 3 called 63 and renamed MOLOSSO based on Venice.It was a wery good period of my miltar life.i Confirm that the ship was a very very nice ship, small ship but again very nice ship.

Dear Mr Dan Blumberg i am Gianni,if you remember same days ago i have answered on respect of your "historical small film"(lcsl3).If you want i have same photografies maked during my military period,but i don't have the possibilty to send you because i don't have your e mail address or whats app.I want to send you this photografies because you could have the possibilty to see the differerences from 1943/4/5 to 1970.All the ships have arrived ,in Italy,on 15/12/1951 at Brindisi(Molosso,Mastino,Alano,Spinone,Segugio). All the best.

Were any LCL's used in the Normandy landings? - I always got the impression there was no maritime close artillery support available on those beaches

No. All the LCS Ls were assigned to the Pacific. There was close fire support at all the Normandy beaches provided by the RN, USN, and RCN as well as representative ships from the French, Polish and Norwegian navies.
