at minute 6:30 ; -author put an external fault , and plotted the fault impedance of the fault below the line of the zone reactance. -my point of view "it is wrong" -the reason : based on his speech , he tried to block the faults outside the zone of protection (transmission line) .if the fault is outside the transmission line so the impedance point shall not only be above the reactance line because the reactance of the transmission line will be involved in the total fault impedance which is equal or greater than the reactance value of the reactance line.

What ever may be the load current even if over loaded total impedance measured by relay can’t be less than line impedance. Video at 9:20

how do i calculate voltage and current at relay like the video, when faults are in between the transmission line, i mean how do you calculate that you get the 177kV and 17700A?

+Suharti Hajar You need to know the line impedance per mile. If the fault is bolted, then the phase angle of the shorted line will be the same, but the magnitude of the line impedance will be reduced. To calculate the line impedance per mile you need information regarding the line conductors wire size, phase spacing, grouping, average distance above grade, etc. ie. It's a highly involved calculation itself.
