I am new ham, learned already: take apart, visually inspect, tighten things. I have a LDG 9:1 and no tape. Well built but I did tighten things. For me to build one via parts is not cheaper.

The other aspect of this situation is the random spacing between the wires greatly affects the impedance. I added dental floss to hold the coils together. It made a huge difference.

Most home-made ones are of better quality than those purchased. For a company, much better quality should be offered here.

I had no problem with the mounting tape sticking... I had no mounting tape. 🤔 I guess they want to save money at the corporate level?

I bought another unun. This time a 4:1. Opened the box and sure enough I found problems. It had mounting tape this time but was not pushed down on the mounting tape. The toroid was near the cover and touching both coax conector wires. I pushed the toroid down and held it for 30 seconds. It seems to me, their is no quality control with this product. ☹️

I've seen foundations in our club. Build better cheaper the spacing on the winds are to far apart. Ldg failed miserably on this
