@BuffMyRadius4 жыл бұрын
The rocket is the gyro, rockets that don't spin at all tend to make arcing flights because of small drag asymmetries. Fortunately, most rockets spin on their own because they have low longitudinal stability.
@Ftw91954 жыл бұрын
Stuart Marshall it’s a shame that there was so much rotational speed to prevent a better view. Do you know why the change in rotation? Initial spin wasn’t so bad, but then it changed direction at a faster rate.
@BuffMyRadius4 жыл бұрын
@@Ftw9195 I'm guessing that the two sets of fins were initially canceling each other's rolling force until the booster stages. Watch for the roll to switch direction when it looses that second set of fins.

The flight controllers on drones and planes have a gyro why is no one using similar type tech to stop the spin?
@bryrocket54084 жыл бұрын
People are using them. I just haven’t thus far. Getting the canards sized appropriately and designed in a way to handle the extreme changes in acceleration and velocity is daunting to me but I intend to start working on a module in the future. This sustainer has always spun more than others. I’ve suspected some slight imbalance in fin beveling somewhere, and I’ve investigated it a lot but haven’t been able to solve the problem. A side effect of the spinning has been that it flies very straight fwiw but kills the camera work. Here is someone I know that had done tons of stabilization work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWHQnouXpbVmo8k

@@melvinp1324 Tyson was wrong when he said that. Actual studies show that humans can see Earth’s curvature with the naked eye at any altitude above 10 km. If you hold a ruler up to the horizon, you can see it at sea level. We can confirm this by doing a geodetic survey: every piece of seemingly-flat land is curved, so are all bodies of water. Sea level is a spherical surface.
