LDS Living & Inklings Study Group: Live Up to our Privileges with Emily Freeman (Live Event)

In light of President Nelson's invitation to the women of the Church "to study prayerfully all the truths you can find about priesthood power," author Emily Belle Freeman created the online study group, "Inklings," to help facilitate learning in the scriptures about women and the Priesthood.
On Thursday, January 23rd, Inklings partnered with LDS Living to create a live study group event. Hosted by Emily, the evening featured a presentation by and Q&A with Wendy Ulrich, author of "Live Up to our Privileges."

I'm a newish convert. From a Pentecostal youth hood. About what Emilly talked about relationship with Jesus. I dont understand how to have a relationship with Jesus when we dont pray directly him?. The only thing I can thing if is that when I pray to Heavenly Father, I'm of automatically praying to Hesus at the same time?? Kind regards. Loved this session

craig newsome What a good question. We pray THROUGH him. And really they are so unified and similar that as we grow closer to one we grow close to the other. Other things that come to my mind are- when we repent in prayer and ask the Father to apply His son’s atonement and connect with it, when we think about Jesus through the day and week. When we ponder His life, sacrifice, goodness. When we connect with him during the sacrament. When we try to be like Him, take His name upon us.

Kristin Mosman you can pray to Jesus or The Father. You don’t pray through Jesus because true believers have direct access to the Father and the Son. “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. *I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly,* and he will grant your request because you use my name.” ‭‭John‬ ‭16:23‬ ‭ *“The Lord said (Jesus),* “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. My quiet place is a little chapel my husband built me from ruins when our home burnt down in a bushfire. He is not of any faith but sees my needs. I have The Family: A Proclamation to the World hanging with photos of family members, all around it, I have a few portraits depicting Jesus Christ and a look-alike stained glass window of Mary, the earthly mother of Christ. I also have some funeral pamphlets of friends and family members who have died and on the table is a tablecloth made by an Hungarian relative of my husband's, in her 80's, on which are the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon for daily reading/study. Anyone may enter with me or alone. They all tell me how peaceful it feels in the little chapel in the garden. My husband has one hand so that makes his effort more special to me.

I just want to add that Jesus didn't have the lineage for the priests in Israel who were the Aaronic priests, but the high priest, of which there was only one called and ordained at a time then, had authority to do the representing of God and Christ, and in the same way but with Melchizedek priesthood power and authority that the Nephites had, Jesus was worthy of and had Melchizedek priesthood, from the Father, He was ordained and called to be a high priest as a Melchizedek priesthood office and do things as a high priest who could administer Melchizedek priesthood ordinances like healing blessings etc.
