Beautiful spruce trunks and very impressive saw mill. Oddly, most of this wood will probably go to China to make mass produced bowed stringed instruments. For the finest work, the wedges must be split, not sawn, so that the instrument top follows the fibres exactly. That is less economical but produces a much higher quality violin top. Perhaps this firm does that with the best pieces?

I think most of the lumber cut in this country goes overseas. The only thing we seem to be able to do is make some roofing shingles or crap that doesn't take much know-how. It's sickening.
